Today is National Dessert Day and we are ready to celebrate! We have so many options in Las Vegas for world class food and any cuisine imaginable. Why should dessert be any different?

In the last decade, Vegas has really stepped up her game in the kitchen. We're known for our celebrity chef restaurants and our over-the-top menus. And that extravagance has found its way onto the dessert menu, big time. We don't just do cookies now. We do cookies on crack. Want a donut? How about one topped with another donut and seven layers of frosting in between? A plain cinnamon roll? What even IS that?

We're the entertainment capital of the world! That means nothing we do can be boring. And today we pay homage to our favorite meal of the day: dessert. In honor of that, here's some sweet facts for you, according to inthekitchenwithmatt.com. About the top ten desserts in the United States:

10. Carrot Cake. Which is a bonus because it totally counts as a vegetable...right?
9. Milkshakes. Celebrating a milestone birthday this year with the invention of the blender in 1922.
8. S'mores. Because it's a tasty dessert and a timeless dad joke.
7. Cheesecake. I mean you know you're good when you have whole factory named after you.
6. Ice Cream, you scream, we all scream for...you know.
5. Apple Pie. Because...America.
4. Fudge. A delicious treat and convenient way to avoid swearing
3. Brownies. We liked them so much we named our girl scouts after them.
2. Cupcakes. What's not to love about cake, but cuter?
And the number one dessert in the United States? Good ol' Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Well now that you're TOTALLY distracted by your sugar craving (sorry, not sorry), here are some desserts in Vegas that you really must try today. Happy National Dessert Day!

1. Lemon Ricotta Cookies at Pronto by Giada de Laurentiis

With ricotta cheese, butter and lemon zest, this cookie is amazing. Giada put the recipe in her Christmas cookbook, or you can head over to Caesars Palace and grab some to go.

2. Crazy Shake at Black Tap Las Vegas

If you want to take an out-of-towner for a treat they won't forget, you have to stop by Black Tap Las Vegas in the Venetian. The Cake Shake is a fan favorite...but did you see this?

Yep. That's a Churro Choco Taco Shake. They also have the Fruity Pebble Shake, the Cotton Candy Shake, and many more. You can't go wrong with any of them.

3. Peanut Butter Featuring Snickers at Crumbl Cookies

You really can't go wrong with any cookies at Crumbl. Unless you were around for their "everything bagel" experiment. That was....interesting. Moving on. The Peanut Butter Featuring Snickers cookie is definitely one of the favorites of repeat customers. The Caramel Popcorn one is a must-try too!

This one might just put you into a permanent sugar coma. It's a cinnamon roll with a pile of cookie dough on top. We're sorry and you're welcome.

5. Insane Milkshakes at The Sugar Factory

You really have to feel sorry for the dishwashers at this place. These guys are famous for putting half of the dessert goodness on the OUTSIDE of the shake cup. The Campfire S'mores Spiked milkshake is a fan favorite for adults. And the kids love the Cookie Monster milkshake.

6. Bourbon Bacon Chocolate Cake at Yardbird

Let's be honest...combining chocolate and bacon is just genius. There's no way to top that....wait...is that bourbon!?! Yep. We're done.

7. Ice Cream at SomiSomi

Korean-inspired soft serve ice cream that is very light and creamy. Served in a fluffy fish-shaped cone called a taiyaki. You really should bring any visitor this place who wants something unique and delicious.

8. Rum Caramel Sticky Bun at Chica

This thing is another amazing combination. The rum caramel of the sticky bun combines with pistachio cream cheese frosting and chile graham crumble. This one is a must-try!

9. Titanic Sundae at Carmine's Italian Restaurant

Just like it's namesake, this thing is huge. Six scoops of ice cream, chocolate torte, strawberries, whipped cream and hot fudge. It's big enough to share, but we won't judge if you don't.
