John Mayer visited the MGM Grand Garden Arena Friday night for his new Sob Rock tour. My buddy Robb and I were lucky enough to attend. If you've never seen this guy in concert before, you might not know just how talented he truly is. He is a Berklee School of Music alumni and a grammy-winning singer and songwriter. But that could describe at least a few people in the music industry. What sets John Mayer apart is his CRAZY amazing guitar skills. Not just how he works the strings, but how he thinks outside the box with his tuning. It's truly something to see live if you ever get the chance.
We had an adventurous evening at the MGM Grand, complete with a tasty dinner and a bit of scandal. Come along on the adventure!
We started out with some dinner at an awesome restaurant in the MGM Grand. Michael Mina's International Smoke.
[Wendy Rush] via BMG Las VegasAs soon as you walk into this place, it smells like you're camping out in a slow cooker. Soooooo good.
[Wendy Rush] via BMG Las VegasIf you ever see a "reserved" sign and a glass of sangria, look out...Wendy's coming. Especially THIS sangria. It is fantastic!
[Wendy Rush] via BMG Las VegasWe started out with their Spicy Thai Beef Lettuce Cups. So good!
[Wendy Rush] via BMG Las VegasOf course we tried the ribs. These were the American BBQ option. Delicious!
[Wendy Rush] via BMG Las VegasOur server, Joey, was so cool. Chicago boy. DON'T tell him New York pizza is the best, unless you want a fight. LOL
[Wendy Rush] via BMG Las VegasThe Truffle Whipped Potatoes is a MUST with the ribs.
We accidentally got served two sides of potatoes instead of one. So, we did what anyone would do...POTATO-EATING RACE!!
[Wendy Rush] via BMG Las VegasIf anyone has eaten with me, they know I always get a doggy bag, in hopes that I find a hungry person to give it to. We didn't find anyone, so we stashed the bag in a dark corner...But, would it be there when we came back?
[Wendy Rush] via BMG Las VegasWe'll have to find out later... Right now...Show Time!
[Wendy Rush] via BMG Las VegasBesides the amazing music and John's guitar work, the screen behind the band was a treat.
[Wendy Rush] via BMG Las VegasSeriously, the graphics during this show were awesome. And those clouds moved across the screen while John sang.
[Wendy Rush] via BMG Las VegasJohn and his keytar player, Greg Phillinganes, feeling the moment.
[Wendy Rush] via BMG Las VegasRoad trip with John Mayer!
[Wendy Rush] via BMG Las VegasThose boxes kept moving and messing with my head...or maybe that was the Black Cherry seltzer I was drinking.
[Wendy Rush] via BMG Las VegasOkay now I'm definitely cut off. LOL
[Wendy Rush] via BMG Las VegasAfter the show, I checked to see if our food was still there...and I almost got caught! And our food was gone. :( But the night was still great. Thanks, MGM!!
