Las Vegas Desert Dogs Host Annual ‘Tucker Out’ Lymphoma Night
Saturday night, the Las Vegas Desert Dogs are hosting their annual “Tucker Out” Lymphoma Night against the Georgia Swarm. To promote this special night at the Lee Family Forum, Head Coach and General Manager of the Desert Dogs, Shawn Williams stopped by The Mike & Carla Morning Show.
Not only is Williams the GM and Head Coach, but is a Hall of Fame Lacrosse player out of Scarborough, Ontario. Having played in the NLL for years, he knows a bit about the game and coaching it up on a weekly basis.
But this Saturday night in Henderson is a special night for the team as well as for the Williams’ family. This is when the Desert Dogs and other teams throughout the league honor the coach’s son Tucker. Tucker, who was also a huge lacrosse player, succumbed to his battle to Burkitt’s Lymphoma.
So, in honor to raise funds for research, to help those families affected by this disease and, most importantly, awareness, the league started the “Tucker Out” Cup series.
With the game being played in honor of Coach Williams’ son, fans will be able to purchase special game worn jerseys. The black and lime green jersey’s will be worn by the Desert Dogs that night.
Other teams will also be taking part in this night throughout the league starting with the Buffalo Bandits, where it all started.
The coach also talked about the team and their latest turn around, winning the last two out of three matches. What it takes to keep it going and much more. Being the first time Williams had stopped by, it was good to get to know the coach and listen to the passion he has for the game and the team.
If you haven’t taken in a Desert Dog game, this Saturday night would be the night to do it! But, take a couple of minutes first, listen to the segment with the coach and enjoy!
