It is that time again, but we come to find out that not everyone seems to love Halloween as much as you! How did this even come up on The Mike & Carla Morning Show this morning?

Carla Rea came clean this morning saying she is NOT a fan of Halloween! Not sure why or how this happened, but she is just not.

Some listeners seemed to speculate that maybe it was something that happened to her when she was young. However, Carla admitted that as a child, she loved dressing up and going from door to door to get candy.

It just seems as she has gotten older, something has changed about Halloween. Something is different...maybe it's the fact that it's a shadow of what she used to remember?

The Reasons We Don't Like Halloween

An article in The Vanderbilt Hustler gave you five reasons NOT to like this mysterious holiday. Some even make sense...for example, the stress of putting together a costume! The expectation of having fun is very high, so there's that stress as well.

Nonetheless, listeners who texted in and called in seemed to be in agreement with Carla to some extent. The commercializing of the day and night was brought up more than once.

Parents infiltrating unknown neighborhoods with a van full of kids also hit a nerve. It just seems that it's all about what we can get for free. It does seem that we've lost the creativity of Halloween.

Kids not even saying those magic words that gets you the candy, "HAPPY HALLOWEEN!" C'mon, at least put forth the effort!

On the flipside, there are people young and old that live for this day! The costumes, the decorations, the candy...it's all a tradition to some. We have to do it, it's a chance for us to be someone else for a night!

Listen to the segment from this morning...if you are on the fence about it all, maybe this might help!

Halloween Costumes Have Changed Over The Years

Halloween is a big day for a lot of people, and it is amazing how Halloween costumes have changed over the years. For me personally, never really been into it, but for some reason, I always seem to have a costume. Now I don't dress up every year, but there have been some stellar costumes in my life.

Even for my two daughters, they loved trick or treating and would go out of their way to costume up. However, living in Las Vegas I get it. In Las Vegas, this day for ghosts and goblins seems to go the extra mile. Maybe it's all the costume contests city wide? Maybe that the prize money has been the attraction over the years. I remember in the 80s and 90s, costume contests starting at 10pm and then having them at midnight, 3am and even at 5am!

I will tell you that The Mike & Carla Morning Show has hosted it's share of costume contests. We have seen the "good, the bad, and the ugly" over the years!

For the longest time, Las Vegas was just crazy about October 31st. Maybe because we are an entertainment city, costumes are a part of our culture. The other thing is, when was it a better time to dress up as who you wanted to be than who you were?

All of our Halloween costumes have changed over the years!

For me, I think I was about 10 or 11 when I was scared for life. My mom dressing me up as the "Black Knight" for a party at our church. The shield made out of cardboard sporting a handwritten "BK" on it to signify that I was truly the BLACK KNIGHT! Then there was this cardboard skirt type thing...very reminiscent of being in the old Roman days. Mom clearly not thinking that I might want to sit down at some point during the night.

To top things off...a black pair of tights! I remember to this day the pain of putting this costume on. Not to mention thinking of what it will be like to go out into the public! Not too mention that it was one of the first "boy-girl" party our church had put together for the kids! YIKES!

Needless to say, I have gotten passed that! In fact, a couple of years ago, my wife Jodi suggested we dress up for Halloween. She said she would go as a "Madonna" type 80s girl and I would go as a big hair 80s rocker! A far cry from being the feared "Black Knight"!

I'm still not a real dress up for Halloween type guy, but for those that are, have a great time. And if you want, scroll down to see the BK costume I had as a kid. My wife and I as an 80s rock couple. And I even have a picture of my two daughters having fun with their costumes...enjoy!

Mike O'Brian as the "Black Knight"!

Don't let the smile fool you! I was totally embarrassed to wear this costume, but hey, the things you do for your mom even as a kid. I wore it, acted like I like it and, to be honest, I think it was!

I will grant you, I was more excited about this then I was the "Black Knight" costume as a kid. Jodi of course pulled it off...me, maybe not so much. But we did have a good time!

My daughter Kelly was a "genie", not too sure what Nicole was going for...maybe a bunch of grapes. Nonetheless, the both had fun dressing up every Halloween.
