NFL Fines Former Raider Quarterback For Celebration
As long as he played for the Raiders, never had a problem, But it seems there’s a new energy with Derek Carr these days. The NFL fined the former Raider quarterback for a celebration in the end zone.
The Mike & Carla Morning Show found it quite surprising since it was, uh DEREK CARR! Carr played for the Raiders for nine seasons. A team leader and not much of a troublemaker. However, from Las Vegas to New Orleans might have stoked the fire.
ESPN reporting that the Saints quarterback got fined $14K for his celebratory dance in the end zone after scoring a touchdown. This all happened this past weekend in the Saints 44-19 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Why Did The NFL Fine Former Raider Quarterback Derek Carr
After scoring the TD, Carr had broke out his “Michael Jackson” leg kick and grab! He had actually promised his family he would do it if indeed he scored. Well, one to keep his promise, he did it and the NFL was not happy.
According to sources, it wasn’t the leg kick that got Carr fined, it was the grabbing! In the ESPN report, it stated that the NFL is a stickler about “sexually suggestive or offensive” acts. Clearly they think “grabbing” is just that!
Players who have landed head to head hits in a game that happen in the NFL have been fined less…but this was different. And the league will not tolerate it.
Carr was quoted in the ESPN report saying, “People don’t know a lot of stuff about me. … Weddings or birthdays, I’m always dancing…” Not sure why we didn’t see these moves while playing in Las Vegas, but good on him!
After posting a 9-8 record in his first season with the Saints, the team is off to a 2-0 start in his second season. Hey, if the team keeps winning and he keeps scoring, let him moonwalk all over the end zone!
