Calling all Vegas Cats! Do you think you have what it takes to land in a Cutest Cats Calendar? If so, cuddle up to your owner and tell them to enter you into the Homeward Bound Cutest Cat Contest. Not only could you be famous, but you could also help out your local feline friends!

Homeward Bound Announces Cutest Vegas Cats Photo Contest

Homeward Bound Cat Adoptions has officially kicked off the search for the cutest cats for their 2025 Cutest Cat Calendar Contest. From now until September 20, 2024, cat owners can submit a photo of their fur babies for a chance to have their cat featured in the calendar. Or even land the coveted cover of the 2025 Cutest Cat Photo Calendar.

And the best part? The calendar is not only a chance for cat owners to show off their gorgeous pet, but it’s also a fundraiser to help other Vegas cats who need it. The 2025 Cutest Cat Calendar Contest is Homeward Bound Cat Adoption’s annual fundraiser. And there are lots of ways to participate, even if you don’t have a cat.

Raise your paw if you’re adorable enough to be in a calendar! Kitties like this one could definitely land in a featured photo.

If you do have a cat, you can submit their adorable photo for $30 to Homeward Bound. There’s no limit for how many cats (or cat photos) you can submit. Once you have your submissions in, send your entry to all your family and friends to vote. You can use emails, social media posts, carrier pigeons, QR codes, whatever you can think of. Each vote is just $1. Anyone (even you) can vote and as many times as you want. Every single dollar will help Vegas cats in need.

Just for submitting, you’ll get a copy of the 2025 Cutest Cat Photo Calendar. And if you get five or more votes in your favor, you’ll also get a guaranteed picture of your fur baby in the collage section of the calendar. Or, if you want to do something really special for your fur baby, reserve a spot on the calendar to feature them individually. You can pick their birthday, adoption day, or any special day to feature your cat. And it’s just $15 to do it.

Entries can be made until 10 p.m. on September 20 directly to the Homeward Bound website. Or, if you don’t have a cat, you can still help by donating directly to the organization. Better yet, go adopt one of the many Vegas cats who need a home, then enter their adorable face into the contest. It would be an awesome way to commemorate you making them part of the family. We have so many options for all kinds of cuisine, how do you know where to go to get any of it and have a guaranteed good experience? That’s easy. You ask the locals. And when it comes to finding the best milkshakes in Vegas, we don’t mind doing that legwork for you. Fine, fine. We’ll drink a lot of ice cream deliciousness and report back. Twist our arms.

Obviously you can head to the Las Vegas Strip at any time when you’re looking for any kind of food. And you’ll always find a plethora of options to satisfy those taste buds. The Ghirardelli Chocolate Factory sells the most amazing chocolate milkshakes you’ve ever had. So much so that it’s hard to finish one. They’re that rich. Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Shop is also an option, with a name that’s almost synonymous with “ice cream” these days. They have milkshakes on their menu.

Or you could always stop in to Sugar Factory on the Strip for a drink that’s half shake, half art. And that always comes with the chance for a celebrity sighting too, if that’s your thing.

All of those options and more are something locals might suggest if we were headed to the Strip. But when you’re not planning to deal with all that traffic and tourism, it’s not worth the drive just to get a milkshake. Sorry, Bobby. Your milkshakes are good, but they’re not “fight all the cars and crowds, pay for parking, and spend $15 on a single shake” good.

Where Locals Go For The Best Milkshakes In Vegas

Okay, Flay’s shakes probably are that good, but we don’t need to make that sacrifice when we have so many great options for milkshakes that are closer to home. We asked locals on Reddit where they like to go for the best milkshakes in Vegas. These are the top five places they said.

  • 5. R Burger

    This one is surprising, considering R Burgers is a fast food restaurant. But you know a drive-thru milkshake has to be pretty darn good to make it in the top five milkshakes in Vegas. R Burger was the answer for many people who are looking for a great milkshake. And the secret might be that they keep it simple. With only four flavors to choose from: chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, and Oreo. And they do top it with plenty of whipped cream too.

    Currently, there is only one R Burgers location in the Las Vegas valley, on the corner of Eastern and Warm Springs. But a second location is coming soon near Russell and Arville.

  • 4. ScoopLV

    For any great shake, you need to start with ice cream that is made fresh, in-house. ScoopLV is another place that does just this. They have a lot of great flavors to choose from when making your perfect shake. And these aren’t your typical ice cream flavors. They have choices like Fruity Pebbles or Captain Crunch, Cookie Butter, Ube Cheesecake, and more. But if you can’t decide on a shake from scratch, try one of their specialty shakes.

    ScoopLV is open until midnight every day. They are located in the southwest part of town on Warm Springs and Jones. 

  • 3. Brusters Real Ice Cream

    Yes, all day long. Bruster’s Real Ice Cream is a family-owned business with ice cream that will knock your flip-flops off. If you have the chance, get their Southern Banana Puddin ice cream in a cup. Not as a shake, because you really need to experience the banana chunks and vanilla wafer pieces. However, for milkshakes, this place is always a must-do. Partly for the friendly employees (owner Dave is so nice!) and definitely for the taste of these shakes. All the ice cream is made fresh and there are so many flavors to choose from. And the shakes are available in three sizes: 16, 22 or 32 oz. Check out all the menu options here. 

    Bruster’s is located on Durango just north of Edna (in the Firestone parking lot). If you have a fur baby, don’t forget to ask for a pup cup! 

  • 2. Lucy's Waffles & Ice Cream

    When a restaurant has milkshakes that are really pretty, you take the risk that the chefs spent more focus on the decorations than the taste. That’s not the case with Lucy’s. Locals love this place because the shakes would sell themselves on taste alone. Plus you get the pretty package included.

    Lucy’s Waffles & Ice Cream is located at 6070 S. Rainbow Blvd near Patrick Blvd. You CAN go in just for the milkshakes, but they have all kinds of other goodies too. We recommend starting with breakfast and leaving with your shake. But that’s just us…

  • 1. Handel's

    Another place that starts with ice cream made fresh daily. Handel’s started in 1945 with a woman who had a passion for quality, and the company still uses her traditions today. They focus totally on ice cream, with menu items including scooped cones, blended hurricanes and topped sundaes. The flavors they offer in their shakes are unique, like banana and vanilla caramel brownie. 

    Handel’s has three locations in the Las Vegas Valley. At Tropicana and Hualapai in Summerlin, at Charleston and Fort Apache in Angel Park, and in the south at Arroyo Crossing (Rainbow and the 215).
