2 Of America’s Most Famous Streets Are In Las Vegas
When it comes to the most famous streets in the country, many of them are on one of the two coasts. Broadway, Wall Street, Rodeo Drive, to name a few. Which makes it all the more impressive that two of the most famous streets in America are both right here in Las Vegas. Both with their own rich history.
America is full of historical landmarks. From the Statue of Liberty to the Golden Gate Bridge, you can build a narrative of our history by our architecture. Or in the case of this list, by the roads that history has happened on and around. The two most famous streets in America, at least where is Google is concerned, are not only in Las Vegas. They’re two of Sin City’s oldest roads.
The 2 Most Famous Streets In America That Are In Las Vegas
Fremont Street
Some argue that the oldest road in Las Vegas is Fremont Street, which was first established in 1905. Named after the explorer John Fremont, the street is the first one to be paved in Sin City. That happened in 1925. It might not be the oldest, but it’s definitely one that comes with a lot of history. Before the Strip took over as the gambling hotspot in Southern Nevada, Fremont Street was where all the action was. Partly because it was just steps away from the first train station in Vegas, which brought a lot of travelers from out of town.
Now, Fremont has gone from just a street to a full-blown experience. The Fremont Street Experience is one of two of the most famous streets in Las Vegas that landed on America’s “Most Famous Streets” list recently. The list, compiled by Action Network from social media mentions and Google searches, reports that Fremont Street has an average 18,100 monthly Google searches. As well as almost a million monthly mentions on various social media platforms.
It’s not a train station that brings people around these days. Fremont Street Experience is visited by millions of tourists for everything from its free concerts to street performers to thrill rides. And of course, with the nostalgia of being where it all began in Las Vegas.
Las Vegas Strip
The other oldest street in Las Vegas is, of course, the Vegas Strip. Also founded around 1905, it grew in popularity later than Fremont, according to King Vegas Homes. When gambling was legalized in the 1930’s in Nevada, the Strip was known as Highway 91. But it didn’t take long for the Vegas Strip to get plenty of its own attention. By the early 1960s, the Strip was a hotspot for gambling, hotel shows, and of course, what Vegas is famous for… quickie marriages.
Now, the Las Vegas Strip is world-famous for its headliner shows, Cirque du Soleil performances, rides, world-class restaurants, and where you’re sure to catch a glimpse of a celebrity or two. And Action Network reported that the Strip gets an average 90,500 monthly Google searches. As well as over 1,300,000 social media mentions every month. Which officially makes it number one on the list of Nevada’s most famous streets.
