Kids Are Singing A New Version Of The Alphabet Song
Did not even know it changed, but evidently kids today are singing a new version of the “alphabet” song to learn their ABC’s!
Not sure when it changed, oh, it still to the tune of “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”, but evidently the cadence is a bit different. This is what came up this morning on The Mike & Carla Morning Show.
According to a report from ABC News, one teacher, who’s video has gone viral, has been singing it this way for years. It states that the cadence has been changed to because some kids thought there was an extra “N” in the alphabet.
Why Kids Are Singing A New Version Of The Alphabet Song
Evidently, singing it the old way and saying “Y and Z” at the end apparently some kids started thinking there was an extra “N” in there. Gotta admit, been singing it for decades and never thought that, but whatever.
And then when it came to the L-M-N-O-P part, kids today thought that was just all one letter in its self! Again, never was confused about that, but clearly it had to be changed!
According to the report, the new version clears up any misconceptions of extra letters that kids might think singing it the old way.
Now through all of this, the most amazing thing is what Morty, our executive producer, finally realized! After years of singing this through kindergarten, elementary, junior high and high school, he never put two and two together.
That’s the real story here…and maybe, just maybe there are other adults who never noticed. But when Morty admitted it, Mike O’Brian and Carla Rea were SHOCKED (shocked)!
Nonetheless, listen to the segment for yourself. Hear the new version that kids are singing and find out what Morty was missing out on all these years…and enjoy!
