‘We’re On A Mission From God’ – Nevadans Love Taking Road Trips
Americans love hitting the open highway and getting out of town. Nevadans especially love taking road trips. And why not? There’s so much to see up and down the west coast and the desert southwest. The results of a recent survey may surprise you when it comes to the state whose residents love taking road trips more than Silver Staters.
Nevadans Love Taking Road Trips, But So Do Residents Of Other States
There’s nothing like the excitement and anticipation of taking a summer road trip. Pack some clothes, a cooler with cold beverages and some munchies, and then make sure you have a great road trip playlist. Or just listen to 96.3 KKLZ wherever you go through our free app or on your smart speakers.
But according to a recent survey provided by the student travel company Rustic Pathways, Nevada’s residents don’t even make the top five when it comes to searching online for road trip destinations.
One would think that with the desert heat of the summer months, Silver Staters would enjoy taking road trips to cooler locations. Surprisingly, it’s the residents of a tropical paradise who are making the most online searches for road trips.
That’s right, per this Rustic Pathways survey, Hawaiians are searching road trips online an average of 1,278 times per 100,000 residents. For comparison, the national average by state is 322 searches for every 100,000 people. That’s nearly three times the national average.
But get this: Hawaiians most searched road trip is for the Hana Highway, which is in their home state on the eastern side of the island of Maui.
Rounding out the top five in this survey we see the residents of Montana taking second place searching online for road trips, with an average of 865 per 100,000 people. California lands in third (520 searches), North Carolina fourth (508), and Wyoming in fifth (499).
Nevada’s Favorite Search For Enjoyable Road Trips
The Rustic Pathways survey places Nevada in the sixth position. We average 408 online searches for road trips per 100,000 residents. Our favorite destination? It’s the scenic Pacific Highway of California.
My wife and I traveled that highway back in the late 80s. It was certainly spectacular. There were also lots of quaint, fun, beach cities and towns in which to stop and stretch our legs.
Other destinations for interesting road trips for which Nevadans are searching include The Loneliest Road (Highway 50), the Death Valley Rally, and the Cowboy Corridor.
Now you’re ready to hit the road this summer to explore a place you’ve never been, or that you’d love to see again. Drive safely!
