Tropicana Las Vegas To Show Their Appreciation For Workers
The Tropicana Las Vegas is set to close their doors on April 2nd. The April 2nd is just 2 days shy of the hotels 67th anniversary. The hotel opened on April 4th, 1957, according to The Mob Museum.
The hotel will close to make space for the new stadium that's being built for the future Las Vegas Athletics. The construction of the new home of the relocating Oakland Athletics is expected to cost $1.5 billion dollars. The cost to build and open the Tropicana Las Vegas was $15 million, according the Las Vegas Review-Journal, reported by Fox Business.
With this change also comes change for worker at the hotel property. Some workers have worked there since day one. Others for decades. Before they do close their doors, the hotel wanted to make sure they were known and recognized.
Between now and April 2nd, the hotel will be cycling through over 700 names of workers on their marquee. This will run 24/7, according to Fox 5 Las Vegas.
A press release from Bally's Corporation stated, "This heartfelt gesture demonstrates the management's appreciation for their employee' dedication and commitment to creating a positive work experience during the transition period." This also reported by Fox 5 Las Vegas.
Helping The Workers Find Work
Bally's Corporation just held a job fair at the Tropicana Hotel for their current workers to possibly find jobs elsewhere in the corporations network and properties.
And on top of all this, the Tropicana will also show their appreciation for their workers with an appreciation day for all of their team members.
It truly is a sad thought that an iconic hotel on the Las Vegas strip is closing. The hotel helped make the iconic Vegas 4-foot tall headdresses famous, at the Folies Bergere show, which opened in 1959.
The Best And Worst Mascots In Major League Baseball
Major League Baseball's opening day will be here sooner than later! For fun, someone created a poll on the best and worst mascots in the Major League!
They're just as beloved or hated by the teams fans! They even have their own Hall of Fame, which was created back in 2005. To date, only seven MLB team mascots have been inducted into it, beating out mascots from all sports! Several other MLB mascots have been nominated since it's creation in 2005.
There are only three MLB teams that don't have one. The L.A. Dodgers, N.Y. Yankee's, and the Anaheim Angels! So what is their job exactly? To entertainment but really to cater to young children and help market the team.
For this poll, one-thousand people were shown head-to-head mascot matchups. The results were tabulated based on which ones got the best votes across the board.
Coming in dead last, at twenty-seventh place is Swinging Friar from the San Diego Padres! But who topped the list of best and worst? Below are the top five results!
