Young Sheldon Spinoff Series Will Center On Georgie And Mandy
A Young Sheldon sequel is in the works. Not the one I predicted, or wanted the most, but it’s happening!
The Big Bang Theory Keeps Evolving
“Our whole universe was in a hot, dense state, then nearly fourteen billion years ago expansion started, wait.” The Big Bang Theory became one of the biggest shows on CBS. One of the biggest shows, period. So big, that they did a prequel, Young Sheldon.
The show wraps up its last – and very short season, because of the writers strike – on March 14. Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will be joining the Young Sheldon series finale.
Young Sheldon Casting Was Perfect
For some reason, I didn’t think I would like Young Sheldon, after loving the BBT characters for so many seasons. It took a minute for Iain Armitage, the actor who played young Sheldon, to grow on me, But he did, and I ended up loving the show.
The casting was perfection, even far beyond Iain (Sheldon). Zoe Perry – Laurie Metcalf’s actual daughter – was brilliant casting! Raegan Revord, as Sheldon’s twin sister Missy, was probably one of the funniest characters on the show – next to Annie Potts as Meemaw. Their chemistry was flawless.
Even though the series is ending, The Cooper family will carry on. A Young Sheldon spinoff about Georgie and Mandy has officially been ordered by CBS, for the 2024-2025 season.
Young Mandy And Georgie
No title as of yet for the show, but it will focus on Georgie (played by Montana Jordan), Sheldon’s older brother, and his wife. Mandy (played by Emily Osment). They just had a baby, so we can assume it will be about raising their child, and the challenges surrounding it.
Young Sheldon used a single-camera format. TVLine reports that the spinoff will use a multi-camera shoot, and will be shot in front of a live studio audience. No word as to whether or not any of the other cast members will be joining the series. It sure would make sense, though, and I really hope it happens. But at least we won’t have to completely say goodbye to the Coopers.
It all started with a big bang. BANG!
