It seems, according to a report by Channel 3, that some County Commissioners are having second thoughts about the race coming back to Las Vegas. If nothing else, some strong concerns about the future of the Grand Prix event.
Maybe Las Vegas Is Not Excited About F1
Now overall, the race looked great on T.V. and it totally showed off Las Vegas in a different light. But some County Commissioners have heard the rumblings of those local businesses hit the hardest and would like to re-assess everything.
In fact, the Channel 3 report says that it's already on the agenda for the upcoming meeting on February 20th. Keep in mind all the money that allegedly came into our town because of the race and the tourists. But now it seems that F1 would like $40 million to help in covering some of the costs of the infrastructure work around the track!
Uh, say what? Yeah, this is where the Clark County Commissioners are coming together to see what the heck is going on. And if the race is truly worth it all. Some local businesses around the track would probably tell you NO! Plus, a few pending lawsuits might tell you they weren't happy at all.
Maybe there's a chance that they would think about moving the track south of the Las Vegas Strip? You will still have the backdrop of Las Vegas in sight, more freedom to move around without shutting everything down. Without causing all the headaches it did for locals trying to get to and from work on time.
Just a thought...but the meeting is next week. It might be time to have your voice heard!
Las Vegas Might Be One Of The Fastest Growing Cities In America
Well, you would think with everything going on that Las Vegas very well could be the fastest growing city in the U.S.! Think about it, if you grew up here or even moved here over 10 years ago, except for the gaming, hospitality industry, and UNLV sports, Las Vegas didn't have much else going on.
Fast forward to 2017, we have an NHL franchise, followed by a WNBA team, an NFL team and soon, Major League Baseball will be a part of the city's landscape! Not to mention, the Vegas Golden Knights have already won the Stanley Cup, the Las Vegas Aces have won back to back WNBA Championship...just a matter of time before the others follow suit!
Is Las Vegas The Fastest Growing City
Heck, even The Mike & Carla Morning Show would tell you, factor in the weather, no state tax and all the other benefits of living here, it's no wonder people are making the move to Vegas! But is it thee fastest growing city in America? We really have it all here. Not to mention, our city has been known to be disaster proof!
Except for the rumblings of an aftershock due to an earthquake in California. Oh sure, we have our flashfloods, the summer heat, but comparatively, we seem to be fairly safe.
According to an article in Bloomberg, more and more people are avoiding the move to California. High taxes, traffic, and the cost of living, it's no wonder fewer people are making the move out west. However, the good news, they are putting on the breaks and stopping in Las Vegas and Phoenix!
There are really only seven major cities that the population has grown over the last year. On the flipside, cities like New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco...even Chicago has seen their population go down according to the article.
The article also points out that despite the ups and downs, some are even making the move to the south. Again, stats showing that since 2020, the south's population has grow almost 40%
But what are the fastest growing cities in America. You might be really surprised by the Top 5 alone. Oh, and despite the positives about Phoenix, it didn't make the cut. On the other hand, Las Vegas, whether we like it or not, is still growing. So, scroll down below and find out where "The Entertainment Capital of the World" officially ranks!
