Too Expensive And I’m Not Buying It Anymore
It’s no secret people are struggling financially. This is NOT a political post and has nothing to do with politics. It has to do with just plain old life.
I’m finding there are things that I’m just not buying anymore, because they’re too expensive. I might have the money, but now I’m going to “fix them” by not buying their product! In reality, it won’t really do anything. But I like to think it WILL.
Bowling Might Be Too Expensive Now
Some of the simplest things, and many necessities, have gotten to be far too expensive. I noticed this the last time I went bowling.
Bowling used to be a somewhat cheap night out. A couple games, shoe rental, a crappy pizza and beer. Maybe $10-to-$12 bucks a person. Well, you can basically double that now. And if you want Cosmic bowling, it’s going to cost you even more. Unless you want to bowl at 6 AM with the family to save money. Then bring the pillows, and slippers — we’re going bowling, kids!
Remember when beef jerky was a cheap, go to snack? Not now. When did dried out meat become “gourmet?” Especially at 7-11? I understand the fancy beef jerky places, making their own. You’re going to pay for that. But your basic convenience store Jack Links? I don’t think so!
Why Such A High Cleaning Deposit, When I’m Cleaning The Airbnb!
Now let’s go beyond: Airbnb. Anywhere you were going, this used to be a really nice, affordable alternative to hotels. Now, with all of the added fees, and an astronomical cleaning fee – because some bachelor party guys peed in the bedrooms, and left garbage all over the house. And then they had to re-carpet, and buy new beds (yes – near Washington DC). Now it’s far too expensive. Not to mention, I clean dump the garbage, and wash the dishes, and make sure everything is put away – why am I paying so much, when I am the one cleaning?
Streaming services: Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu – all of them! Ee paid and came to you. And stuck with you. What did you do? RAISE YOUR PRICES! And let’s not even talk about medication for those who need it. Unaffordable, in many cases.
Celery prices, concerts, greeting cards. Yes, I’m going to fix all of them!! Ok, probably not. But I do try to buy other brands, and do other things, when I can.
Some Things That Are Still Affordable
Because of streaming, movie theaters now offer a lot more deals. Gym memberships are way more affordable than they used to be. TV’s — because they are basically disposable — are much cheaper. Salt, sugar, flour – still fairly affordable. So eat more cookies. And paste.
Oh, and rubbing alcohol – keep doing what you’re doing, because you’re still affordable! Especially since I’ve had the same bottle for 10 years. Perhaps I’ll break down, and get a new one.
