We're Gonna Have To Scale It Back
According to a report by CNN, Tesla's autopilot feature has been under a two-year investigation by the US safety regulators. Why? Because allowing a car to drive itself on busy freeways and roads can't be that safe, even though it has proven that it can. This investigation has lead to Tesla having to recall almost 2 million of it's vehicles. This isn't just particular to one model Tesla, it's all of them. The autopilot feature used to be something you had to buy as an add on. Now it comes as a standard feature on all new Tesla's. But they also have a feature called "Full Self Driving" or as they call it, FSD. If you want this feature, it is an additional $12,000 to the price of your new Tesla.
Autopilot Has Made Tesla A Boatload of Money
Even though Tesla still offers and has a demonstration video on their website for their autopilot feature, they're being force to tweak the feature in their cars. When it was first released, Tesla investors as well as Elon himself saw a enormous surge in stock and car sales. CNN says their stocks went up more than 840%.
How Safe Is It?
Even though Tesla proved the system works, it has also had it's faults. Accidents have occurred. People have also died using the autopilot feature. Over time, there have been tons of documented issues with it. Someone using it caused an 8 car accident. People have said the car will swerve unexpectedly. It sometimes won't stop at stop signs or signals. It even caused their cars hitting emergency vehicles.
Despite all of these known features, Tesla stock and sales still rose. With all of this being known, Tesla is not being forced to recall over 2 million of their sold cars, so they can tweak it, so prevent a lot of these known issues from happening. Will this be the fix, no one know until it's done and tested.
We have more on this in today's edition of a Few Things You Should Know!
Are You Driving One Of The Most Dangerous Cars In Nevada
Buckle up, and get in - I'm going to take you on a drive to find out the safest, and most dangerous car brand in Nevada.
More Cars On Las Vegas Roads:
Nevada -Las Vegas in particular - has always been a tourist destination, and in the last few decades it has grown as a residential destination.
With new stadiums being built every few years to accommodate new teams putting on "Las Vegas" uniforms, new Sphere's, and entertainment venues going up on every corner, and California neighbors selling their homes, and becoming new residents of the Silver State, Las Vegas is (still) one of the fastest growing cities in the country.
Car safety is a big priority for many drivers, and with good reason, especially in Las Vegas. Choosing a car that has great safety features can give you peace of mind and potentially save lives in the event of an accident - which there are far too many of in Las Vegas.
Picking A Safe Car In Las Vegas:
But with so many car brands and models on the market, how can you know which ones are the safest?
In a comprehensive study by Glass Doctor, they analyzed the top three car brands in each state that reported the most fatal car crashes over a decade. Using this information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the researchers were able to determine which brands were among the safest.
According to the data, Audi is the top safest car brand, with only 0.54 fatal crashes per 1,000 drivers over the decade. This title is well-earned, since Audi has made significant investments in safety technology, research, and development, including developing new safety systems that use sensors and cameras to detect and prevent accidents.
Subaru and Mercedes-Benz also ranked high, with 0.55 and 0.75 fatal crashes per 1,000 drivers, respectively. This goes along with Subaru’s six recent IIHS top-pick safety awards. Mercedes-Benz has a reputation for luxury, but their vehicles are also known for their safety features, including advanced driver assistance systems and collision prevention technology.
Most Dangerous Car In The US:
According to the Glass Door study, Dodge has the most fatal crashes of any other car brand in most (64%) U.S. states. Ouch!
