It was something that popped up on The Mike & Carla Morning Show this morning from a video that has gone viral. A teacher in Illinois was shocked (SHOCKED) to find out how many kids in her high school class who could not read a clock. We're talking the old fashion kind with the big hand, little hand.
Really? You Kids Cannot Tell Time?
It was all according to an article put out on Distractify, and according to the students, it was too confusing! Too confusing? Now before we get to the "are you kidding me" statement, think about it. Over the course of years, everything is now digital! The clocks in cars, on the microwaves, even watches are now giving the time digitally. So, why would kids take the time to learn on to read a clock? There is really now reason right?
On the flipside, The M&C Morning Show wanted to know what other things your kids didn't know how to do. Those things that as adults we just take for granted. You would be amazed what came up. One listener talked about how his wife, who worked for the school district who was surprised that a student didn't know how to use a land line phone.
Another thing that came up was how some kids don't know how to write cursive or even read it for that matter! Who actually writes anymore? They even have a cursive font on the computer, so it seems handwritten notes or letters are so yesterday overall!
The truth of the matter is that its a new day and a new age....all those things we took for granted and how to do things is a thing of the past. Welcome to 2024 people! Check out the segment below and get a shot of reality...and enjoy!
Sesame Street: 6 Classic Performances from the Iconic Children’s Show
Sesame Street premiered on November 10, 1969. For over 50 years, the iconic children's show
has been educating and entertaining countless people all over the world.
The show was the brainchild of Joan Ganz Cooney, Lloyd Morrisett and Jim Henson. Sesame Street featured some of Henson's most popular Muppet characters. Among them were Big Bird, Bert, Ernie, Cookie Monster, Grover and Oscar the Grouch.
Over the show's history, more and more characters were added. Some of these characters went on to become just as or more popular than the original aforementioned Muppet characters. These characters include The Count, Abby Cadabby, Elmo and Snuffleupagus.
Sesame Street is also a critical hit on top of being loved by viewers. Over the course of its history, the show has won an obscene amount of awards. Among them are over 200 Emmy Awards, 11 Grammy Awards and three Peabody Awards. The show was even honored in 2019 with the Kennedy Center Honors. Plenty of the characters were on hand to take part in the gala event. Of course, things did get awkward when Tom Hanks accidentally was sitting in Big Bird's seat.
With the advent of the internet, the show's resources to its young viewers and their parents grew. The official Sesame Street website features all sorts of educational games and learning exercises. It also features printable worksheets and other extras to help preschoolers expand their minds. On top of that, the show's official YouTube page is packed with all sorts of special videos. In fact, it is where we found the videos that make up our list.
Sure, the show is obviously aimed at young children. However, Sesame Street has featured countless musical guests spanning many genres that adults could enjoy, too. Here are just some of our favorites over the years!
Billy Joel and Marlee Matlin performing 'Just The Way You Are'
This Billy Joel classic was reworked by the “Piano Man” as an ode to everyone’s favorite trashcan dweller, Oscar The Grouch. It’s hard not to fall in love with this song (and Oscar) even more.
Johnny Cash performs 'Nasty Dan'
Man…Oscar gets some of the best visitors! This time, Johnny Cash stops by to sing “Nasty Dan,” which is a little more up Oscar’s alley. Gotta love the “Johnny Trash” pun, too!
B.B. King Sings About The Letter 'B'
Can you think of anyone more perfect to sing a song about the letter “B” than B.B. King? Neither can we!
Little Richard Sings 'Rubber Duckie'
Bathtime never sounded as soulful. What an icon Little Richard was!
Smokey Robinson and 'U Really Got A Hold On Me'
The Motown legend struggling with a Muppetized letter “U” is simply hilarious, and you can tell Smokey is having a blast in the process.
Stevie Wonder scatting with Grover
Stevie and Grover are killing us with cuteness in this clip. Plus, Stevie’s shirt/vest/necklace combination is ridiculously on point.
