The Fontainebleau Las Vegas Will Finally Open This Week
The Fontainebleau Las Vegas will finally be opening its doors on Wednesday, December 13.
It has been a long time coming.
I’ve personally watched construction on The Fontainebleau for about 15 years. I used to work the Riviera Comedy Club and would see the structure regularly in the late 2000’s. But, the recession and probably a lack of budget in the later 2000’s forced a closure of the structure early on.
According to CNN, The Fontainebleau Las Vegas has been a 23 year journey. But now, it will be the second-new casino to open in Las Vegas in the span of a week! Durango Casino Resort being the first.
A New Luxury Hotel In Las Vegas
The $3.7 billion Fontainebleau is quite a sight. The tower that sat unfinished and untouched for many years — it was honestly quite an eyesore — is the newest addition to the Las Vegas strip.
KTNV Channel 13 Las Vegas reports that The Fontainebleau tower is the tallest occupiable building in Nevada. It has 3,644 rooms and suites, 19 restaurants — with more on the horizon — a luxury boutique retail district, and a massive six-acre pool area.
The Fontainebleau also has a 3,800 seat theater. Its website announced Post Malone for a few concerts during New Years weekend with ticket prices up to $930 each.
It is definitely a luxury hotel that will most likely cater to international visitors. It is a short walk to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Center, so that is a big plus for conventioneers.
Durango Casino Resort caters more to local and neighborhood residents. At present, Durango only has one hotel tower. But a second is on the way.
Las Vegas welcomes The Fontainebleau after a very long construction process as most locals can attest to. And if you didn’t know, there is a Fontainebleau sister property in Miami, Florida.
