Student Field Trips Are Not What They Used To Be
So growing up, one thing we all looked forward to was the class field trip. Well, come to find out that student field trips aren’t what they used to be. A museum here or there for the day. Maybe even a candy factory. But evidently, some kids are taking two-three day road trips!
Come to find out that Carla Rea’s Goddaughter took her most recent field trip to Yosemite National Park! The Mike & Carla Morning Show was a little shocked (SHOCKED) to find out that at only ten, they were hitting the road. This was a three day getaway off to the National Park for site seeing.
Here mom and dad, sign the permission slip, I’m hopping on a bus and taking off! It’s like when did this happen? Like we mentioned before, a museum here or there, the state capital for a couple of hours. But a road trip? How did we all miss out.
Mike O’Brian, living outside of Chicago, talked about the Museum of Science and Industry, the History Museum and more in Chicago. Never once ever thought, on a bus and heading out west to a National Park for a sleep over.
Even Carla Rea, growing up in Reno, maybe a trek to Carson City to view the capital or even strolling through the Governor’s Mansion! The last thing Carla would ever expect would be a three day vacation off to the Colorado Rockies to explore…especially at the age of 10 or 11!
It was quite the eye opening topic this morning where some even said they spent a week at “science” camp! $50 from mom or dad, sign the slip and the kid was gone! For mom and day, it’s a great deal…$50 for a kid free week? Heck, that’s a deal. And what a great way for a kid to spend some time away!
Not sure what it was like for you when it came to field trips, but check out the segment below and see if anything has changed!
