Who Loves Spending More Cash On Home Renovations? Not Nevada
The folks at AgentAdvice.com recently decided to check the number of Instagram posts about home renovation projects. From the data, they can determine which rooms in our houses are getting the most attention. They also checked data on Census.gov from their Census Business Builder page. Concurrently, this information shows us which states are spending the most money on home renovations.
Which States Are Spending The Most On Home Renovations?
The results are in and the folks in “The Garden State” of New Jersey seem to be spending the most cash on home improvements. Specifically, they’re dishing out an average of over $4,600 bucks per household per year on home renovations.
Furthermore, New Jersey is in good company. The top five include Maryland ($4,516), Massachusetts ($4,473), Connecticut ($4,356), and Hawaii ($4,279). Incidentally, the District of Columbia would take fifth place if it were a state. People in our nation’s capital average spending just over $4,300 per year on home remodeling.
So, what about all of us here in Nevada? Generally, anytime I visit The Home Depot or Lowe’s, the place is packed. I would think we would rank fairly high in this study. Well, we didn’t. On average, Nevadans are spending $3,200 per year on home renovations. Basically, that puts us in 32nd place. Although this may be true, do you think we spend less than other states because many of the homes in our state have been built in the past two decades?
However, we did not come in last place. The bottom five in this study by AgentAdvice.com are Mississippi ($2,547), Arkansas ($2,705), West Virginia ($2,770), Louisiana ($2,834), and New Mexico ($2,839).
Which Home Remodeling Projects Are Most Popular In America
It’s obvious that people in every state are spending cash on home improvements. In general, what are the most popular projects? Which rooms in our homes are receiving the most attention?
I’m not sure if the number of Instagram posts and hashtags actually prove which rooms are receiving the lion’s share of the cash. However, it does show which are the most popular. And it’s the kitchen which wins this race hands down. Comparatively, the kitchen shows 1.8 million Instagram posts as more Americans try to improve the “functionality and aesthetics” of what AgentAdvice.com calls “the heart of the home.”
Additionally, rounding out the top five in this study are the bathroom (1.4 million posts), the basement (84,400 posts), the bedroom (63,300 posts) and the living room (30,500 posts).
So, what’s your next home improvement project?
