It came out that Darius Rucker, formerly of Hootie & The Blowfish, thought his band was the best wedding band EVER! Of course, if you're thinking about hiring them, keep in mind that Darius threw out a $1 million price tag! OUCH!
So, The Mike & Carla Morning Show thought they would like to assemble a list of bands for your reception...that you probably couldn't afford. But if money were no object, who would you hire. Now keep in mind, this is for your big day. You're hiring this band to play everything, good dance music, slow songs, can keep a party going. You're not hiring them for a private concert for you and your friends.
With that said, Carla Rea flat out said, "...the Rolling Stones!" Okay, The Stones...for a 3 hour gig for $1 million? Well, The M&C Morning Show figured that Carla could pull it off with Mick since they know who she is. And not a bad choice, since they have a great catalog of songs. They're definitely a good time, they can play the dance stuff, Mick knows how to hold a crowd. Not a band choice.
In fact, The Stones got a few votes. One caller mentioned Duran Duran! Again, not a bad get if you had the cash. They have the catalog of music that covers it all and they still sound good. Another listener threw out Earth, Wind, & Fire! Are you kidding? That might be the best "wedding" band of all time. They play everything and seem to have a good time doing it.
Another KKLZ artist that got a few votes, Bon Jovi. Everyone on The M&C Morning Show thought they might workout as well. They have the songs that rock, they can slow it down and Jon, no doubt can work a crowd.
Take a couple a minutes and listen to the other suggestions that came in during the segment this morning...and enjoy!
New Guidelines For Weddings In 2023
If you are thinking about tying the knot, there are new guidelines for weddings in 2023. We know they're are always changing depending on what's trending. You just might want to check out the full list, some of them make sense!
Now keep in mind, where you get married has a lot to do with it of course. But there are some guidelines here that would truly make your wedding more manageable.
An article put out by SLATE, that deals with everything, decided to take weddings on. Hey listen, after a bit of research, you just might want to run down the list.
"Till Death Do You Part...I Do!"
However, the one we found a little surprising is #16. No one has to walk you down the aisle anymore! What? Uh, being a father who has walked his daughter down the aisle, I take exception to this. I paid for the wedding...I will walk, I will dance and I will speak!
On the flipside, I get it...not everyone has someone to walk them down the aisle. The one we did like, #14, NO MORE GIFTS! Now there's a concept. What can we give the couple that they probably don't already have. You know what, just invite your family and friend. Expect nothing and treasure the fact that they made time to be there!
The other one we agreed with was #9! No kids! Now we get a lot of people might be split on this, but sometimes you just have to draw the line at a wedding! If they have to be at the wedding, fine, but have the car waiting instead of having them at the reception.
So, if you are taking that giant step soon, what are the new guidelines for a wedding in 2023. We think we should at least run down the Top 5. You might be a little surprised, but it's a new day right?
#5 SKIP THE BRIDAL PARTY
The days of having 7-8 friends stand up for you at your wedding are done! No need to have them go through the process of buying a dress they'll never wear again. So for that reason, it comes in at #5!

#4 YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE A PLUS ONE
This one gets a little sticky, but again, it's your wedding right? You actually have the right to deny a "plus one" for a guest. It's all right to tell them that the invite is just for you! #4 on the list of new guidelines for weddings in 2023.

#3 YOUR CLOSEST FRIENDS SHOULD MAKE OUT THE GUEST LIST
Not really sure about this one...you have to have some say over the list right? Heck, maybe not...not in 2023! So guess what, it's #3 on the list...so deal with it!

#2 NO OUTDOOR SUMMER WEDDINGS
This is one that we so totally agree with...especially living in Las Vegas. Or even if you live in the south or Midwest. Those hot, humid summers are uncomfortable for everyone, They always look good on paper, but let's stop the madness...it's #2 on the list!

#1 NO MORE ENGAGEMENT PARTIES
At #1 is STOP THE ENGAGEMENT PARTIES! Just get engaged, plan the wedding and let's do it! No more need to celebrate every stage of the wedding process! Save the money, put it toward the honeymoon. We agree with this one as well and glad it's #1 on the list!
