Officials had a huge announcement for the upcoming Shriner's Children Open. The tournament tees off starting on Monday, October 9th at TPC Summerlin and runs through Sunday, October 15th.

This year, LPGA star Lexi Thompson will be a part of the list of players competing for the $8.4 million in prize money. According to the story from Channel 8,  Thompson is able to participate in the tournament with a "restricted exemption".

The report goes on to quote Patrick Lindsey, Executive Director of Shriners Children’s Open, saying “We are thrilled to welcome Lexi to the 2023 tournament.”  This year's event will have a total of 132 golfers listed to tee it up come next Monday.

According to a story by Golf, this will not be the first time Thompson has shared the tee with men. Thompson has played alongside the men before at least six times in the QBE Shootout. Keep in mind that that is an unofficial Tour event, but this will be her first FedEx Cup event.

Although this is a nice win for the Las Vegas event, it's nothing new when it comes to women participating in golf tournaments on the PGA Tour.  The Golf article also lists Babe Zaharias, Shirley Spork, Suzy Whaley, Michelle Wie West just to name a few that have played in PGA Tour events.

This should bring even more interest to the tournament in Las Vegas that originated back in 1983. It will be interesting to see if she can add her name to the list of Champions that includes the likes of one Tiger Woods. Woods won the event back in 1996 when it was then called the "Las Vegas Invitational". His very first PGA Tour win.

So, get ready to tee it up and enjoy some professional golf all next week in Las Vegas!

Where Nevada Golfers Rank When It Comes To Beer

Las Vegas is a great place to tee it up and the state of Nevada has some awesome golf courses. However, where do Nevada golfers rank when it comes to drinking beer when golfing? Since the "pandemic", there has been a huge surge in golf.

What better time then to do a survey on how many beers are being down per round state by state? According to an article written by Andrew Wilsher featured on Pickwise, you might be surprised where our state lands. On the other hand, maybe not!

Nevada Golfers Are Drinking Beer On The Golf Course!

Over 1,500 golfers throughout the country were asked how many beers they drink while playing a round. It should be noted right off the bat that our neighbors to the north, Utah, drink the least amount of beer during a round. It's estimated that one might only drink 1.1 beer during 18 holes. C'mon, how much fun can they be having right? Or, are they just that good at the game and don't have the time?

Heck, even in California you'd think they would show up in the Top 5! But guess what? They don't drink as much beer on the course as you would think. Golfers on the west coast are more in the mid range of about 3.5 beers a round. Also in that same area on the list...Minnesota and Georgia!

Now golfers in Europe, they are not even close to being in the Top 10 when it comes to beer! For example, the article points out that golfer in England, less than 1/2 a beer per round! What is going on over there?

So let's get to the Top 5 Beer Drinking states in America...when golfing! Although you might not be surprised by what state is #1, there is a 3 way tie for 5th! Before scrolling down, keep in mind the article only talks about BEER! So, scroll down and see where the state of Nevada falls when it comes to drinking beer on the golf course...and enjoy!

Top 5 States Where Golfers Drink The Most Beer!

#5 NEVADA

So here you go, there is a three way tie for 5th and guess what state is right there? NEVADA! Golfers in Nevada drink about 4.2 beers a round. Tied with Pennsylvania and the state of Missouri! Of course we're only talking beer, so this could be very misleading! LOL!

Well, they do say everything is bigger in Texas, so if you're gonna golf and drink beer, go big or go home. Downing 4.6 beers per 18 holes lands Texas in the #2 spot on the list of states drinking the most beers on the course! Hook 'em horns...we mean "FORE!"

#1 FLORIDA

Not sure why this surprises us, but FLORIDA is #1 on the list when it come to drinking beer on a golf course. Now with that said, we should look into how many golf carts get overturned or driven into a water hazard! But congrats to the "Sunshine State" on being #1!
