Apple’s Sensitive Content Warning Combats Unwanted Nudes
Apple has developed a tool to combat receiving unwanted nude photos. Well, kind of.
Sensitive Content Warning…what is it? Well, have you ever been sent a text photo or a photo on messenger, but you’re not sure whether you want to open it or not. You know that photo probably contains some sort of nudity. Well Apple has come up with a solution to prevent you from viewing these photos.
“Send Nudes”
Everyone says the saying, “Send Nudes” and sometimes people do just that. But what if the other person on the receiving end doesn’t want to view it?
Apple’s new Sensitive Content Warning will alert the person that the photo contains nudity. If you agree to open the photo, the system’s newest feature will blur out the nudity from the photo. It doesn’t just work on photos, but it also will work on videos containing nudity as well, according to the Apple website.
How Does It Work?
According to Apple Support, the Sensitive Content Warning will use the phones on-device machine learning. It will scan and analyze the photos and videos. And if you’re wondering if Apple saves these photos after they’re analyzed, they don’t. In fact they don’t even know the photos or videos are sent.
How To Access It On Your Phone
When you download the newest operating system for your phone, Sensitive Content Warning isn’t active. If you decide to activate it on your device, you’ll need to do it yourself, once you’ve updated to the latest operating system, a release from Apple states. To activate it, you can access it in your Settings App. Then you’ll find Privacy and Security. If you scroll down, you’ll find Sensitivity Content Warning. Just select it and turn it on. This just isn’t for your phone. It’s also an option for your Apple computers as well.
Apps That Support It
So far, photos and videos will be scanned on Messages, AirDrop, Contact Posters in the app, FaceTime, & Video Messages. It will also be available for Apple Watch 7.
