There's a festival happening near Las Vegas. And just in time for Labor Day weekend.

The weather in Las Vegas this weekend feels amazing. But even though we're getting a wonderful break from the triple digits, it won't last long. We're looking at temperatures back up above 100 degrees come next Saturday. So if you are jonesin' to get out of the house, now is the time to do it.

And there is a perfect family getaway just 30 miles from Las Vegas at Mount Charleston. The Retreat on Charleston Peak will be hosting a food & artisan festival this weekend. Both Sunday, September 3 (10am - 8pm) and Monday, September 4 (10am - 4pm).

At the festival, hosted by LV Craft Shows, patrons will find more than ten various food trucks and art and craft booths. And original works of art by over 60 local artisans will be available for purchase. Visitors are encouraged to get their holiday shopping started early.

Admission and parking is free. Live entertainment will be present for the kids. And adults are invited to enjoy the Beer Garden hosted by The Retreat. Dogs are welcome too. It's a great location for a craft show because the scenery is beautiful. So even if you're not looking to purchase, come out for the amazing weather. AND register to win a 2-night stay in Mount Charleston.

Prepare for cooler weather.

Just remember that the temperature up at Charleston will be about 15-20 degrees cooler than Vegas is experiencing this weekend. So make sure you bring layers and especially a sweater for the cooler temps. The festival will be both indoors and outdoors and it will happen rain or shine. Sturdy shoes are encouraged, as the ground is uneven in places and a short walk from the parking area may be required.

The Retreat is located at 2755 Kyle Canyon Rd. You can check out the LV Craft Shows Instagram page @lvcraftshows and see what their festivals are like. Or visit their Facebook page here.

Labor Day Weekend In Las Vegas: Where To Party Or Relax

The #1 destination spot for Labor Day weekend is no other but: Viva Las Vegas!

According to a recent survey by Tripadvisor.com, people flock from all over the country to celebrate the fall season in Las Vegas. The other top travel destinations for this fall include New York City, Orlando, Florida; Honolulu; Lahina, Hawaii; Key West, Florida; Nashville, Tennessee; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; New Orleans and Miami.

Despite inflation, rising fuel cost and airline staffing shortages, Traveladvisor's fall index states that six out of every ten survey respondents say they're planning a fall vacation this year, "even if how they travel might change."

The survey also said the overall demand for travel had increased. One theory suggests that several years of pandemic restrictions have contribute to this increase in demand.

Although we're traveling more in comparison to other years, the way we travel has altered. Traveladvisor's data states that people will travel for shorter periods of time or will travel to a place closer to home.

For Vegas locals, many of us may be working. Holiday weekends are definitely prime money-making time for the hospitality industry, and increased tourism is always music to any tourism and service-based industry.

So, although Labor Day may not mean much to Las Vegans who work in the gaming, hotel and service industry, we still want to make sure that your hard work and contributions to our city's economy is properly accounted for! So thank you for everything that you do.

Throughout this weekend, there will be fun events going on in Las Vegas that will be the perfect gift to yourself.

Here are some fun ways that can either have you partying or relaxing for this upcoming long weekend in the entertainment capital of the world. Of course, we wanted to give an array of options for our hard-working listeners. We hope everyone has a safe and fun holiday!
