Our local team put up a good fight in the Little League Baseball World Series®. However, the Henderson Little League All-Stars lost their second game of this double-elimination tournament on Tuesday against Tennessee.

Here’s How The Game Went Down For The Henderson Little League All-Stars

All things considered, this game was certainly a pitcher’s duel. Basically, one critical fielding error by Henderson cost them the game. Tennessee, representing the Southeast Region, sent their ace, Lucas McCauley to the mound. Comparatively, Henderson matched up very well with their hottest pitcher, Nolan Gifford.

Gifford only gave up five hits and one earned run in six innings pitched. Generally, that type of performance is usually good enough to win a game. However, Tennessee’s McCauley overpowered our local little leaguers by striking out 12 batters in six innings. Furthermore, he only gave up one run on two hits. Henderson’s bats just didn’t show up in this game.

The winning run for Tennessee came on a passed ball error by Henderson’s catcher. Eventually, the winning run came in from third for the 2-1 final score. Undoubtedly, a tough way to lose an important game. But, we can all be proud of how the team from Henderson conducted themselves throughout the tournament. There’s Still A Lot Of Action In The Little League Baseball World Series

So, Henderson is now out of the tournament. Tennessee goes on to play the team from California on Wednesday August 23rd. Additionally, the Southwest Region team from Texas will battle the Northwest Region team from Seattle, Washington on Wednesday. These are the only teams remaining in the United States side of the bracket.

Likewise, there is exciting international play continuing in the Little League Baseball World Series®. Teams from the Caribbean, Japan, Mexico, and Asia-Pacific are still alive. Eventually, the winner of the United States bracket will face the winner of the International bracket in the championship game on Sunday, August 27th. You can watch all the action on ESPN. Congratulations once again to the Henderson Little League All-Stars for representing Southern Nevada so well. You all did a great job, and we’re proud of you!
