The Cool Way Paul McCartney Makes His Own Guitar Picks

While many musicians are accused of being eccentric, Paul McCartney is showing he’s just resourceful. Paul McCartney has always been one to pleasantly surprise his fans. And this story is…

While many musicians are accused of being eccentric, Paul McCartney is showing he's just resourceful.

Paul McCartney has always been one to pleasantly surprise his fans. And this story is no different. The former Beatle is one of the most famous musicians in history. But that doesn't make him any less humble than the next guy. Or, in this case, any less resourceful about what he spends his money on.

McCartney is a guy who can literally afford anything he wants to buy. And when it comes to his instruments, there are probably a myriad of expensive guitar picks available to him. But good old Macca seems to enjoy making his own instead. It's certainly not out of a budgetary reason. Maybe he likes the sounds his homemade picks make. Or maybe he really enjoy the process of creating them.

Mommy...there's a Beatle on the train track.

So how does McCartney make his custom guitar picks? Well, the method is not new at all. Kids have been doing it for years. Most likely just for a cool memento for their dresser. But when Macca does it, it's art and music all in one.

If you're ever on a train, especially in the New York or London areas, keep your eyes on the people outside. One could be Sir Paul McCartney. The "Silly Love Songs" singer was photographed laying several pennies on a train track in the Hampton's, metro.co.uk reported, while living in the area to be closer to his daughter, Stella.

McCartney was dressed totally casually. In red shorts, a white t-shirt, and blue baseball cap. After laying the pennies on the track, he'd just stand there and wait for the train to pass and flatten the coins. Making art, getting a one-of-a-kind musical tool, and some quality outdoor time. All in one trip.

Setlist For Ringo Starr’s All-Starr Band Is Five Concerts In One

Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band are coming to Las Vegas. And tickets are selling out fast. They'll be doing three shows in May at the Venetian Theatre at the Venetian Resort Las Vegas.

And when he says "All Star(r) Band", Ringo isn't kidding. He's bringing a whole lot of talent with him to these shows. Let's break down the line up.

First, we have Steve Lukather on guitar. Besides contributing to albums for other artists like Boz Scaggs and Michael Jackson, Lukather is also the only continuous founding member of the band Toto. So he'll be bringing some of those hits with him to this show.

Next, on guitar we have Colin Hay, the only continuous founding member of Men At Work. So there's another catalog of music coming to the Venetian. Hay is also often recognized from television, as he does a lot of screen work in addition to his music.

Edgar Winter is next in the line-up. This multi-instrumentalist is a renaissance man in the group. Playing keys, saxophone, percussion, guitar, and vocals, there's nothing he can't do. His diverse talent is a lot of what made his band, The Edgar Winter Group, so popular in the 1970's. Consider that music catalog number three in this show.

Warren Ham is another multi-instrumentalist in the All-Starr Band line-up. He might be rocking the saxophone, flute, harmonica or keys at this show. He's best known for his work with Kansas and Toto.

Hamish Stuart will be joining the show on bass guitar at the Venetian, bringing some of his band's music catalog with him. So listen for songs from Average White Band. We'll call that concert catalog number four.

And on drums we have Gregg Bissonett. I know what you're thinking. And yes, Ringo is still a drummer and will be playing drums on this tour. Bissonett will be joining Ringo for their double drum action.

So there you go. You've got musicians from Toto, Men At WorkThe Edgar Winter Group, and Average White Band. Not to mention the huge Beatles catalog Ringo knows so well. And you will hear songs from all four of these catalogs at the upcoming Venetian tour.

If you want to know if they'll do your favorites, here's the setlist from the most recent past shows. And scroll all the way down for a link to tickets for the upcoming show at the Venetian! - Wendy Rush, 96.3KKLZ
