Rachel’s Kitchen is celebrating 17 years in Las Vegas!

It's been one of my favorite breakfast, lunch and dinner stops since they opened their (first) door in 2006.

Rachels Kitchen - A Las Vegas Favorite:

I hosted one of the first major St. Baldrick's events in Las Vegas at Rachel's Kitchen's District location in Green Valley -- which was a huge success. I've gone back to all of their locations ever since.

It's been quite a ride since Rachel's Kitchen opened their first location in 2006. Soon after they opened, they began expanding.

As we all know, the economy wavered a bit shortly after opening. But, they persevered thanks to an amazing team and faithful Las Vegas residents and visitors.

Even In Tough Times They Served You:

The early 2010’s saw Rachel's open in Summerlin North, Downtown Las Vegas, Centennial Hills, and Harry Reid International Airport.

When COVID struck and basically shut down the world, they reinvented their business model to survive and to get by. They opened for walk-up orders and offered more deliveries. They found a way to keep their employees and continued to give customers the delicious food they had grown to love.

Fall of 2023 will give Rachel's Kitchen more to smile about as there will be another location to celebrate. So, stay tuned. In the meantime --- CELEBRATE 17 years of breakfast, lunch, and dinner across the valley!

Founder of Rachel's Kitchen Is Grateful To Las Vegas:

I've know Rachel’s Kitchen founder and CEO, Debbie Roxarzade, since they opened. She says, “What a journey this has been. I’m so proud of my team, and so grateful for our faithful fans at Rachel’s Kitchen."

"Every birthday gives us a chance to reflect on our past challenges and savor the success we’ve experienced. We have eight locations and counting, and we are honored to call this valley our home.”

Debbie, along with everyone at Rachel’s Kitchen invites Las Vegas residents, and visitors to visit their favorite location on Sept. 1st, to join their 17th birthday celebration.

Breaking News:

News Flash: You can soon visit a new Rachel's Kitchen -- their FIRST WITH DRIVE THRU -- at Sunset and Durango, which is set to open in late September. The drive thru will offer different items form their traditional locations.

For more details about online ordering, catering, their menu and locations, please visit www.rachelskitchen.com. My favorites? the Rachel's Chicken Salad and the Ultimate Grilled Cheese that are to die for!

Cereal Talk: Captain Crunch Is Finally a REAL Captain

Captain Crunch will finally be a real Captain!

If you didn't know, Captain Crunch's uniform is wrong, and he wasn't truly a Captain after all -at leat according to his uniform. The gold stripes on his sleeve are below his rank, which is incorrect.

For Quaker Oats Captain Crunch cereal's big 60th anniversary, they will finally give him the uniform of a REAL captain.

Captain Horatio Magellan Crunch - his real name - has really earned the white in his mustache, and now he will earn his true rank. The gold stripes on his sleeve are below his rank. An American naval captain wears FOUR gold bars on his sleeves, but Captain Crunch has always had fewer, initially wearing only one bar (ensign), then two bars (lieutenant), and three bars (commander).

For the 60th anniversary, they have finally given him his FOUR bars.  There's an updated image on social media, with the caption, "The internet has spoken, and we listened.  Introducing:  My new look and my 4th stripe era!"

His next rank would be Admiral, but I don't think anyone is ready for Admiral Crunch.

Interesting Captain Crunch fact for Old-Schoolers: The character was created in 1963 by TV producer Allan Burns, who worked on "Rocky and Bullwinkle", and who co-created "The Munsters" and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show".

Personally, I wasn't a big Captain Crunch lover, because it was lethal to the roof of my mouth. But there's a reason for that.

If it wasn't already apparent by the name, Captain Crunch's whole selling point is that it doesn't get soggy. Okay, yes, it will eventually get soggy, but it's at least supposed to stay crunchy a little longer than other kid cereals. The Captain does sail through a sea of milk on his ship, so avoiding sogginess was sorta his thing.

In the 1960s, Quaker Oats conducted a survey and asked kids what kinds of foods they liked. Kids under 10 highly preferred foods that were crunchy over ones that were soggy.

Who was Captain Crunch's nemesis

Jean LaFoote might not be that familiar to today's Cap'n Crunch fans, but he was a regular character in Jay Ward's old animated commercials for the cereal. He was based on real-life swashbuckler Jean Lafitte, Jean LaFoote was known as the barefoot pirate main objective was to capture the Cap'n and force him to tell the secret of "what makes Cap'n Crunch cereal so crunchy."

Where was the Captain from?

He was born on Crunch Island, a magical island off the coast of Ohio and in the Sea of Milk, with talking trees, crazy creatures and a mountain (Mt. Crunchmore) made out of Cap'n Crunch cereal. Niiiice!

The Captain's wardrobe

He wears a Bicorne "Napoleon-style" hat. This lead to speculation that he may be French. According to Crunch Facts, a news outlet dedicated to the mascot, Cap'n Horatio Crunch has a perfect 200 IQ.

Quaker Oats considered killing off Captain Crunch

The Captain found himself potentially walking the plank in 2011 after child obesity experts began to take a closer look at the marketing of sugary foods to children.
