Mick Fleetwood shared that his restaurant, Fleetwood's on Front St., has been destroyed in the wildfires impacting Maui and the Big Island in Hawaii.

He shared via Instagram, "Maui and The Lahaina community have been my home for several decades. This is a devastating moment for Maui, and many are suffering unimaginable loss. Fleetwood's on Front Street has been lost, and while we are heartbroken, our main priority is the safety of our dear staff and team members."

He continued, "On behalf of myself and my family, I share my heartfelt thoughts and prayers for the people of Maui. We are committed to supporting the community and those affected by this disaster in the days, month and years to come."

As of publishing, at least 36 people have died in the wildfires. Per NBC News, fire crews have struggled to get the fire under control due to strong winds coming in from Hurricane Dora. So far, over 100 National Guardsmen have been deployed to assist with the ongoing response to the wildfire. There is currently a mass evacuation of areas north of Maui.

President Joe Biden has approved of declaring Hawaii a disaster area. This will allow federal funds to be sent to aid in state and local recovery efforts.

8 Random Things That Aren’t As Tall As Mick Fleetwood

The only thing larger than Mick Fleetwood’s legend is…well…Mick Fleetwood.

Standing at a mighty 6' 5" (77 inches), Fleetwood often towers over many rockers. He does that while also managing to be one of the most stylish people in any room.

So, in honor of his birthday today (June 24), we take a humorous look at some other objects Fleetwood is taller than. Again, this is very silly, but it's all in good fun for one of classic rock's most iconic drinks of water. Enjoy!

But First, The Current Status of Fleetwood Mac

Stevie Nicks opened up recently about the final hours of her late friend and Fleetwood Mac bandmate Christine McVie.

Speaking with Mojo, Nicks reflected on the sudden nature of McVie's passing in November 2022. When she was informed of McVie's illness, Nicks said she was ready to rent a plane and fly to see her friend. However, McVie's family told her not to do that "because she may not be here tomorrow." The day after that fateful phone call, McVie passed away.

Nicks expressed how she wanted to sit at McVie's bedside and sing to her, which she said, with a laugh, "would have made her pass away faster." Nicks painfully noted, "But I needed to be with her, and I didn't get to do that ... I didn't get to say goodbye."

The two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Famer also told Mojo that without McVie, Fleetwood Mac "just couldn't work." It's a sentiment she shared in an October 2023 interview with Vulture. She said, "When she died, I figured we really can’t go any further with this. There’s no reason to."

Nicks's feelings about the future of Fleetwood Mac were echoed by Mick Fleetwood in February 2023. He was asked on the Grammy Awards red carpet whether the band would continue to perform. Fleetwood said, "I think right now, I truly think the line in the sand has been drawn with the loss of Chris."

He added, "I'd say we're done, but then we've all said that before. It's sort of unthinkable right now."

Fleetwood wrote a moving eulogy for McVie when the members of Fleetwood Mac and other close friends gathered in January 2023 for a "Celebration of Life" event. He wrote, in part, "It's with a sense of gratitude and thanks to the Fleetwood Mac family that we are part of...and losing of such a magical component; has sparked a celebration of what Christine means to us. We all miss her as a family member, as a friend, an artist, a performer and God knows a writer of excellence."
