When Meeting The New Girlfriend Goes Sideways
It’s never easy dating, but then when you decide to have the family meet the new girlfriend…and it goes sideways! That was the topic this morning in “group therapy” on The Mike & Carla Morning Show. Hey, it’s all happened to us one way or another…and the same can be said for meeting the new boyfriend!
But according to an email from Josh, after dating for a couple of weeks, he thought it was time. It was time to bring the new girl to a family function. He thought it was going well, they had been out on a couple of dates, why not? He soon found out that it was a bad idea! A couple of drinks in and all hell broke loose! To the point when he mentioned at the end of the email, they probably wouldn’t be seeing each other again.
“Hey guys, would like you to meet my new girlfriend!”
As we said, it does happen right? We’ve all been there. You’re dating someone and it seems to be going well. Maybe it’s that time to introduce him or her to the family! And maybe, just maybe they’ll get off my back when it comes to dating.
So The M&C Morning Show wanted to help Josh…especially when he asked, “is there some sort of timeline when it comes to this stuff?” Right? How long do you date a person before you take the giant step of introducing them to the family? Do you to a preliminary run through with your friends first?
A lot of listeners called in on this and said sad to say, no real timeline. Go with your gut! But that’s what got Josh in trouble in the first place. One woman said that she does it as soon as possible. Especially if she feels it’s getting serious. Noting that her family is loud and obnoxious…if he can put up with them, we’re all good.
If kids are in the mix, then all bets are off. That’s a totally different situation, but you listen to the segment and see what you think…and enjoy!
