A Florida chiropractor Kent Messer was looking forward to a fantastic day at work until it was immediately foiled for him.

Messer works for Suncoast Injury Centers, located in Fort Myers, Florida. Kent was looking forward to eating a slice of homemade coconut pie. But when he got to work and opened the refrigerator, it was gone! Not only was his pie gone, a bunch of other office stuff were taken as well.

What Happened Exactly?

Messer told his local TV station, NBC-2 News, "I had very simple goals." His goals were to show up for work, eat a slice of pie, and go on with his day. He didn't even have a chance to get past the second goal. The pies container was still in the refrigerator but only crumbs remained in it.

This Is Now A Criminal Case

Aside from the pie his wife had made, which they put a value of $5 on it, other items from the business were stolen. Once Kent realized his pie was missing, he checked around and realized a case they use to transport items was missing. That had a value of about $125. But what was probably most shocking for them was a bunch of medical supplies that they use regularly was also missing. They're saying about $1,500 worth of supplies were missing.

The thieves seemed to know what they were doing. The building had an emergency exit door that's located in one of their examination rooms. That's where the thieves entered from. Outside of the building that door had pry marks.

Because of the amount of things stolen and the value on them combined, this has become a criminal case and is currently being investigated. So far no one has been caught. If they are in fact caught, they are looking at charges of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, which is considered a second-degree felony.

9 Las Vegas Pies You Must Try On National Pi Day

March 14 is National Pi Day! And we want pie!

In mathematics, Pi is the ratio between the circumference and diameter of a circle. It is a mathematical constant written as 3.14159265359. But most commonly it is simply recognized as 3.14. And since March is the 3rd month of the year, 3/14 is when we celebrate National Pi Day.

While I'm sure some math geeks are spending the entire day doing long division and other math problems, good ol' America has found a better way to ring in National Pi Day. With pie, of course. We know it has very little to do with Pi, but we'll look for any reason to add tasty treats to our holidays.

Also, let's not overlook the fact that most pies are round, like the aforementioned circle. So you could cut one using the constant pi and really get your celebration on. Or you can eat your tasty treat while discussing the universal importance of pi. Whatever suits you.

Nobody can know for sure how many variations of pie are in the world. But according to restaurantclicks.com, the most popular in America is still apple. Followed closely by cherry, pumpkin, pecan, chocolate cream and key lime.

If you're on a diet and want to celebrate National Pi Day (or we've just said the world so many times that now you're craving it), here's something to remember. Pie doesn't have to be dessert. There are tons of savory options that you can throw into a tin. Chicken Pot Pie, Shepherd's Pie, Spanakopita Pie. They're all fair game.

Whether savory or sweet, it's a good day to make a pie. So get your baking on and enjoy!

But, if you're not digging the idea of a messy kitchen today, we feel you. Here are the best places in Las Vegas to pick up a sweet or a savory pie on your way home. - Wendy Rush

Shepherd's Pie - McMullans Irish Pub

According to locals, this place has the absolute best Shepherd's Pie in town. Take it to go, or stay and enjoy the kind of atmosphere that only the Irish can deliver.

Key Lime Pie - Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab

If you just want pie, their key lime is a must. But we wouldn't blame you if you stuck around for the crab either.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie - PopNPies

So many delicious pies. So little time.

Chicken Pot Pie - Marie Callender's

Marie Callender's is many people's go-to for sweet pies. But their chicken pot pie is one of the best on the planet. And you can eat one at the restaurant since we have three locations in the valley.

Pecan Pie - Delmonico Steakhouse

Even if you're not usually a fan of pecan pie, you should try this one at least once.

Turkey Pot Pie - Yardhouse

Banana Cream Pie - Emeril’s New Orleans Fish House

The buzz on the street is that this pie is to die for. Not a bad day to try it!

Sausage Gravy Pot Pie - Hash House A Go Go

The uniqueness of this dish and this restaurant makes this a "must try". Plus, it's delicious. Bonus.

Ube Cheesecake - Purple Potato Bakery

Yes, it's called "cake", but it's creamy and round so it's a pie! Even if you disagree, you'll probably be okay with breaking the pie rule for this one. It. Is. Amazing.
