Zippy’s first Las Vegas location
Morty via BBG Las VegasIf you've ever visited Hawaii then you've probably seen a Zippy's restaurant. Or, someone probably said you should make a stop during your trip.
For the Hawaii locals, it's pretty much a staple. Their slogan "Next Stop, Zippy's," is totally true. When Vegas transplants return back to the islands for a visit, it literally is a first stop. It's mine for sure! When locals heard the news of a location opening here, everyone from the islands living in Las Vegas went crazy.
When Is It Opening?
Zippy's first announced their opening in Las Vegas back in 2018, according to its website. So, why is it five years later that they're finally opening? The restaurant chain announced the opening and purchased land to build in the Southwest part of the Vegas Valley. Right off Rainbow and the 215.
The land sat fenced off for a couple years while things were being sorted out. Then all of a sudden there was movement on the property. Vegas locals -- like me -- drove by to see the building being built. Then all of a sudden, the company's name was put on the building and a huge mural was painted on the side with the one word associated with Hawaii, "ALOHA!"
Last Tuesday, the company finally announced they will be opening their doors on Oct. 10 at 10:10 a.m.!
Looking For A Job?
The restaurant also announced they will also be hosting a hiring event on Aug. 15, their website states! They're looking to fill many positions like cooks, servers, hosts, cashiers, managers, and more. If you're interested in applying, the event will be held at 4590 S. Hualapai Way, from 9 am to 6 pm.
What Makes Zippy's Different From Any Other Restaurant?
The restaurant is a kicked-up version of diner food. Plus they serve island favorites like Loco Moco and more. But what they're known for is their fried chicken and their chili. Being born and raised in Hawaii, Zippy's was always a spot we went to every week. Chili and chicken was always my go-to order. They even cater to those who don't love beans in their chili.

More Locations Are Planned For Vegas
Zippy's may also be opening other locations around the Vegas Valley, according to KTNV. The second possible location would be in the East Gate Shopping Center off Marks Street and West Warm Springs.
Best Spots For All-You-Can-Eat Korean Barbecue In Las Vegas
If you haven't had Korean barbecue, we're here to change your life.
What exactly is Korean barbecue you may ask? Let us tell you.
It's decadent, filling and packed with delicious side dishes called banchan.
Korean barbecue is essentially a collective experience, according to SeriousEats.com. It requires teamwork among the table, and the portions are usually large.
The main event of this feast is, of course, the meat. Many Korean barbecue eateries have menus with different cuts of beef, pork, chicken and grilled vegetables. You can choose from brisket, marinated pork belly, ribeye and so much more!
The server will usually take your order, flick on your tabletop grill and come back pushing a cart of your selected meat. Depending on the restaurant you eat at (and your skill level of cooking), you will be doing the majority of the cooking! But if you're a newbie to the world of Kbbq then have no fear. The servers and workers at Korean barbecue establishments are always happy to help and to teach.
As the meat caramelizes, chars and cooks on the grill, you can use lettuce wraps and rice to eat along the meat. And you simply can't forget the dipping sauces that include sesame seed oil seasoned with salt and pepper, spicy soybean paste and other savory, umami-like sauces.
The side dishes, called banchan, are the perfect accompaniment to the hearty meat. Kimchi, pickled cucumbers, marinated soybeans, spinach salad, eggplants are just a few out of the many side dishes that are included in the meal. These side dishes vary depending on which restaurant you choose. However, banchan should always be served with a warm bowl of rice.
In Las Vegas, there are no shortages of great Korean barbecue spots you can eat at. And another great highlight of the Kbbq scene in Vegas, many places are "all you can eat!"
All-you-can-eat Korean barbecue places usually have a set price per person. This price allows you to order anything on the menu. However, there are usually time limits at these places and a fee if you leave a good amount of leftovers -- so don't over order!
