An recent community hiring event called Work With Purpose interviewed prospective new employees in Las Vegas.

It happens every year in Las Vegas, and sometimes more than once annually. It's called the Work With Purpose hiring event. And it's intended to bring people together with careers that make a difference. A difference not only for the people helped, but for the employee involved.

The latest event happened this weekend in Las Vegas. Hosted by Opportunity Village and sponsored by the CEO Exchange. Nine local Las Vegas nonprofits were interviewing candidates on the spot, many of them looking to hire immediately.

Many Las Vegas nonprofits participated in the Work For Purpose event.

Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada were on site. They provide food, shelter and comprehensive services for people in need. Some of their programs include Meals On Wheels, The Hands of Hope community food pantry, immigration services and a youth mentor program.

Goodwill of Southern Nevada also participated in the event. Beyond employing Southern Nevadans in their thrift shop, the organization also trains individuals for meaningful career opportunities. They support thousands of people every year with their free services. Including job coaching and training in addition to job placement.

Signs of HOPE was another organization looking for new employees at the hiring event. Their core services focus on prevention, education, advocacy and counseling.

The U.S. Vets organization was also on site. They operate two residential facilities and a community support office in Las Vegas. Services include transitional and permanent housing, employment services and homeless prevention.

Dress For Success of Southern Nevada, another organization hiring at this event, empowers women in Las Vegas to achieve economic independence.

SafeNest has a mission to end domestic violence in Southern Nevada. They were also at the event looking for new employees.

St. Jude's Ranch for Children was also hiring at the event. Their employees will help their mission to transform the lives of abused and at-risk children in Clark County.

The Center works to empower all to live authentic lives. Those with a passion to serve the LGBTQIA+ community interviewed for this organization at the Work With Purpose event.

Opportunity Village also had a hiring booth at the event. Wendy Rush spoke with CEO Bob Brown about their need for over 40 employees and about the need from the other participating organizations.. Brown also discussed the event and what people could do to prepare for an on-site interview.

Original air date of this interview was July 23, 2023.
