Illegal Fireworks: Do You Live In The Most Guilty Las Vegas Zip Code?
Which Las Vegas zip code has the most complaints over the July 4th holiday for illegal fireworks? You may, or may not, be surprised to find out.
Illegal Fireworks: Las Vegas’ Most Guilty Zip Code
On Monday, July 3rd, I posted an article letting valley residents know there are major fines for having illegal fireworks. Apparently, the folks who live in the 89123 zip code didn’t know, or care. According to ISpyFireworks.com, they have the most illegal fireworks reports with 531. This south valley zip code took third place last year.
Residents who live in the 89108 zip code claim second place for the second consecutive year. An article by Linsey Lewis on 8NewsNow.com reports 485 complaints this year.
In addition, there is a new Las Vegas zip claiming third place this year. It’s the area where Beasley Media Group’s studios and offices are located. Here in the 89117 zip code, there were 388 illegal fireworks reports.
All totaled, from June 28th through July 4th, officials count over 12,000 illegal fireworks reports. The vast majority of the complaints come in on Independence Day. Believe it or not, this year there is a decrease in illegal fireworks reports, down from 14,000 in 2022.
Illegal Fireworks May Be To Blame For Many Of The July 4th Fires
Clark County Fire Department officials responded to almost 100 fires during the evening hours on the 4th of July. With this in mind, fire department officials continue to investigate the causes of these blazes. At this point in time, they assume many were caused by illegal fireworks. It remains to be seen how many were actually started by fireworks.
Additionally, there is a special task force this year searching for residents who have, or are caught lighting off, illegal fireworks. Consequently, Clark County officials wrote 49 citations during a five-day holiday period. That’s according to an article by Justin Walker on 8NewsNow.com.
Please be aware of the fact that it is no longer legal to light fireworks in Clark County. Even if they’re considered “safe-n-sane.” You can receive a fine for doing so. The legal period to light fireworks in Clark County ended at 12:01am on July 5th.
