It seems Vince Vaughn is working on a "Dodgeball" sequel! The sequel would carry on from the ending of the 2004 original "Dodgeball". Vince Vaughn is set to star in it, reprising his role as Peter LaFleur. As for now, that's about it as far as casting goes at this time.
No word on if Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor will be a part of the cast. In fact, no official word on if any of the "Average Joe's" members have signed up for this project or not.
An article put out by Deadline reported it's not even sure if Rawson Marshall Thurber will be involved. Thurber is the guy who wrote and directed "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story". With only a $20 million dollar budget, However, it grossed over $138 million worldwide...not bad for his first movie!
"If you can a dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball!"
Clearly the original struck a chord with fans. Not only did the characters make their mark, but so did the "underdog" storyline of a lowly gym and it's members winning a National Dodgeball title! A $50,000.00 grand prize, and in Las Vegas of all places!
A great cast, a funny script and special cameo appearances by Chuck Norris, William Shatner and more made this original an instant box office hit!
But despite all the speculation, rumors are that this will happen. It's just a matter of getting all the ducks in a row and everyone on board. We do know that the sequel will continue the story line of LaFleur and his gym "Average Joe's". Not sure what direction it will take, but it will be interesting to see how this all pans out.
Let's just hope the sequel is as good and that Las Vegas is a huge part of it. Here's to keeping our fingers crossed and hoping it turns out as good as the original!
