So, here's the deal, one mom wants to know what she should do about her "klepto" kid who seems to be shoplifting. The kid is only 9 years old and it's not the first time either. This was the hot topic this morning with The Mike & Carla Morning Show. Mom was looking for advice and hoping other listeners might help her out.
Now let's understand that the first time was just a bag of M&M's. The kid just stuffed them in his pocket without mom knowing. The next time it was a little bottle of perfume for his little girlfriend. But where does it end? What do you do in this situation?
There was a lot of input from parents listening this morning. Also got some takes on what happened to those that called in when they got caught. Most of the advice was to discipline the kid. Serious consequences for doing something like this. If the kid doesn't learn know, then when?
That's what a lot of parents were saying this morning. We even got calls from teachers here in Clark County talking about how they caught students ripping them off.
Clearly it's a different world out there. A few moms and dads even suggested having the kid take the item back to the store. Have the kid come clean to the manager and admit his wrong doing. Hey, T=that's what happened to Carla Rea during her reign of terror growing up in Reno! Her mom grabbed her by the arm and marched her down to the store to admit her mistake.
Not saying that it will work in every situation, but instead of a life of crime, Carla then turned to comedy. The rest as they say is history! We've all been there, done that, and there was a lot of good advice, so hopefully we helped her out.
