Las Vegas May Be Home To New ‘Harlem Nights’ Themed Resort
A developer out of Beverly Hills, California is pitching the idea for a new resort in Las Vegas.
Shlomo Meiri owns almost 2 acres of land on the corner of F Street and Jackson Avenue, the LVRJ reported. That’s in the historic westside of Las Vegas. About two miles northwest of Fremont Street Experience.
Currently, there’s not much happening on that intersection, or anywhere near it. There’s the old boarded up Tokyo Casino on that corner. An Annie’s kitchen, a handful of churches and a few apartment complexes are within a few squares miles. Beyond that, it’s pretty empty.
But it sounds like that’s exactly why this new developer wants to start a new project.
Meiri thinks this could be a thriving new tourist mecca. And he’s hoping that his new project will inspire others to follow suit and help develop the area. If he is successful in his mission, this could be the catalyst for a neighborhood that provides a lot of jobs to its residents in the same area.
Meiri‘s project, if it’s approved by the Las Vegas Planning Commission next week, will be a 60-story resort called “Harlem Nights”.
The specifics of the project include a 687-foot-tall tower that includes 764 hotel rooms. There will also be 458 residential units. Presumably for the employees of the new resort. Meiri is also planning a casino, 900-seat theater, a restaurant and retail shops. A bar on the top floor is also in the projected plans.
Meiri said the project was inspired by the 1989 Harlem Nights movie that starred Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy. And that it will be themed after New York City’s Harlem neighborhood in Upper Manhattan. Specifically that area in the 1920’s and 1930’s. (reviewjournal.com).
The project will be reviewed by the Planning Commission next Tuesday. But there are a lot of hurdles to get over. Most notably a zoning change in that area. Currently it is only zoned for a seven-story building. But the final vote goes to the Las Vegas City Council. So the project will move forward even if it’s not approved by the Planning Commission.
It’s anticipated it will take about six years to complete.

Move Over, Area 15, Las Vegas Is Getting More Immersive
It looks like Area 15 in Las Vegas is about to get some serious competition. This time in the world of immersive entertainment. An Albuquerque based company called Electric Playhouse is looking to expand to Sin City this year.
Electric Playhouse is posting a lot of details this week on their website about the upcoming Vegas location. And it looks seriously awesome! They’ll be setting up camp in the Forum Shops at Caesar’s Palace. Taking over a space that is more than ten thousand square feet. And they plan to be here as early as this summer.
According to their website, Electric Playhouse in Las Vegas will have something for everyone. They have an entertainment experience for a wide variety of ages and demographics. They say children, teenagers, adults and seniors will all have something to enjoy.
Another exciting thing is that their offerings change daily. So there will always be something new to check out. And their experiences will change depending on the time of day as well. They’ll have options for date nights and birthday parties. Also corporate events or family outings.
When it comes to the demographics they’re inviting, that’s diverse as well. Electric Playhouse promises that “whether you’re a thrill-seeker looking for an adrenaline rush, a culture enthusiast seeking to discover new forms of art, or a food lover looking to indulge in gourmet delicacies, Electric Playhouse has an experience designed just for you” (Electricplayhouse.com).
At their flagship location in Albuquerque, Electric Playhouse is already impressing the crowds. They’ve hosted immersive dining experiences and interactive art exhibits. They’ve also held sports watch parties.
Electric Playhouse is known for their cutting edge technology. So this is definitely going to be an experience like no other. Here’s some of what can we look forward to this summer at the new venue. – Wendy Rush
