Have you ever wanted fresh eggs so badly that you decide to start a backyard chicken business? The high price of fresh eggs and even egg shortages around the Las Vegas Valley has led to a rise in the number of backyard chicken businesses. The problem is, chickens require a great deal of care, and novices rarely have any idea about how much work goes into these businesses.

According to an article written by Rebecca Saha on 8NewsNow.com, the increase in these backyard chicken businesses in Southern Nevada has also led to some of these prospective business owners mistreating the animals either through negligence or lack of knowledge. Many of those who have tried to start these businesses end up bringing their birds to a local bird sanctuary, or worse yet, just leaving them to fend for themselves in the desert.

And now, with Easter coming up this weekend, local bird sanctuary operators are worried that after the Easter Egg demand slackens, there will be more and more of these chickens brought to them because people do not know how to care for them. I don't know anything about caring for chickens, but I figure it takes more than just building a chicken coop or cage and doling out chicken feed.

Googled the question about what is required to start one of these businesses, and the list of requirements is daunting. It is a full-time job if you want to do it right, care for the animals, and become successful. You can see what is needed on ThePoultrySite.com.

I like eggs as much as the next guy, but I think I'll wait until the prices come down and the shortages subside before I even begin thinking about purchasing some hens to lay eggs for me in my backyard. However, if you do decide to start one of these businesses, please educate yourself so you do not harm or mistreat your chickens. It will make for tastier eggs too.

Tips; Money Saving Meals At The Grocery Store

With inflation hitting everyone, especially at the store, here are some money saving meals you can take advantage of at the grocery store. Now these might be money saving meals we loved as a kid, but now enjoy as adults.

According to a recent survey put out by Reddit, some might refer to these as their favorite "poverty meals". However, when it comes to saving money, we can all agree they are meals we can all like! One of the biggies on the list, but did NOT make the Top 5 is Hamburger Helper! As a kid, we loved Hamburger Helper, so it makes sense that as an adult we might think about using it to save when we can.

Another childhood favorite was a simple Cheese quesadilla. "Total cost to make one would be about 40 cents." Talk about money saving! You add a bit of chicken or beef and you have a treat! One more that might bring back some great memories, Kraft Mac & Cheese! Hey, you add some hot dogs to it and you're talking gourmet...of course, who can afford hot dogs right?

Not high on the list, but doable, it's Lasagna! Sure, why not. Make enough of it and freeze the rest, you are talking about for entire month! Again, keep in mind that everything tastes good in small doses, but if you're trying to save money, you do what you have to do!

Keep in mind that you probably couldn't eat all this day after day, but when it comes to cutting cost, every little bit helps. Just go back in time when life was easy and everything your mom made tasted great. The meals might have been pretty simple to make, but times being what they are now, may it's time to go back!
