Christine McVie Cause Of Death Revealed

Author Wendy Rush
April 3rd 7:18 PM

It has been four months since Christine McVie die. And now we have answers as to what caused her sudden death.

McVie passed away on November 30, 2023. At the time, the news only reported that she died at the age of 79 after a short illness. Her estate didn’t given any further information.

Now, McVie‘s estate has revealed her cause of death. Christine McVie died of a massive stroke. It was technically a ischemic stroke, which is when blood going to the brain is prevented due to an obstruction in a vessel, people.com reported. This is the most common type of stroke.

According to her death certificate, there was also a secondary cause of death.

A secondary cause of death was listed as cancer. It is unknown what type of cancer McVie had. Cancer cells were found in her body, but neither a related tumor nor the origin of where they came could be determined (people.com).

Though McVie wasn’t open about the specificity of her health issues, she was quite open about having them. In an interview prior to her last tour with Fleetwood Mac, McVie said her health made it difficult for her to perform and she didn’t know if she would go out on the road again.

In addition to cancer and the stroke, McVie was dealing with other health issues.

According to her death certificate, McVie was also suffering from atrial fibrillation, more commonly known as AFib. Meaning her heart was beating irregularly or at a past much faster or slower than average.

McVie’s cause of death was revealed in court as part of the proceedings to settle her estate, theblast.com reported. Her fortune was worth more than $50 Million. The sole heir to the estate is McVie’s brother and his family, since she had no husband or children of her own. Several charities will also received some of her assets.

McVie’s death certificate also revealed that the late musician was cremated.

7 Things You Didn't Know About Christine McVie

It was just announced today (November 30, 2022) that singer songwriter Christine McVie passed away. Such a devastating loss for the music world. Not to mention a surprising one. Nobody even knew that McVie was sick. It was only reported that she passed away peacefully at the age of 79 following a short illness.

The news was reported on McVie’s official Instagram account. The caption read: “On behalf of Christine McVie’s family, it is with a heavy heart we are informing you of Christine’s death. She passed away peacefully at hospital this morning, Wednesday, November 30th 2022, following a short illness. She was in the company of her family. We kindly ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this extremely painful time, and we would like everyone to keep Christine in their hearts and remember the life of an incredible human being, and revered musician who was loved universally. RIP Christine McVie.ā€

As a longtime fan of Fleetwood Mac, I always thought McVie didn’t get the recognition she deserved. At least not from those who weren’t big Mac fans. Those who were, know the contribution McVie made to the band. But Stevie Nicks was the universal face of Fleetwood Mac, not McVie.

So let’s dive into the contributions that Christine McVie made not only to Fleetwood Mac, but the music world in general. She was a huge powerhouse behind Fleetwood Mac‘s biggest hits. In fact, eight of the ones she penned landed on the band’s 1988 Greatest Hits album. She has won several awards for her music, including a Gold Badge of Merit Award and a Trailblazer Award (wikipedia.com).

In honor of this amazingly talented woman, here are a few more things about her that might have been forgotten. The music world just lost an incredible talent. RIP Christine McVie. You will be missed.
