The Mike & Carla Morning Show

Weekdays 5:00am - 10:00am

New music from a couple of artists that we haven’t heard from in a while. Both Peter Gabriel and Billy Squire released new music over the past couple of days. The Mike & Carla Morning Show sampled both songs from each artist this morning.

Peter Gabriel just released a song titled “Playing For Time” from his forth coming “i/o” album. Peter said it was mostly about time, mortality and memories. The M&C Morning Show provide a clip, but it is very Peter Gabriel-ish in sound!

When you wonder whatever happened to Billy Squire, wonder no more. After disappearing for a bit following the release of a new rock album in 1993, Billy is back! It’s a song called “Harder On A Woman”. It does rock, in fact the end riff sounds more like a slowed down version of “Everybody Wants You”!

Billy enlisted some name players to help out on the track including G.E. Smith, formerly of the SNL band. He also has Simon Kirke from Bad Company on drums. This song plays on to over 6 minutes in full.

Good to hear from both artists and clearly they have kept their vocals in good shape. M&C did bring up the fact that it was Peter Garbriel’s work with Las Vegas entertainer Donny Osmond back in 1989 that produced “Soldier of Love” for entertainer.

It was at a time when Donny couldn’t get a record deal, nor a booking for a show or concert. Clearly things have turned around for Donny with his run at Harrah’s with his sister Marie and now on his own. Even Donny would tell you what a thrill it was working with the former Genesis lead singer.

Just a footnote for Gabriel fans, Peter is back on the road and will be touring throughout 2023. 22 shows already schedule in Europe with the North American leg of the tour still to be announced! So, the clips of new music and make your own decision…thumbs up, thumbs down!
