Every once in awhile it's time for "group therapy". This morning one listener wanted to know if it was okay to let their teen have gastric bypass. The Mike & Carla Morning Show got an email from a parent with a teenager ready to head off to college. Her daughter wanted to get gastric bypass since all other means did not work. So the question this morning is do you allow your teenager to go through the process?
It was quite the topic this morning and, actually very educational. The M&C Morning Show got both the pros and cons this morning. Getting calls from those that have had the procedure sharing their story. The bottom line is that it might not be for everyone.
From those that have had it and it went well, they talked of the commitment to the procedure and the lifestyle that followed. It was something that they truly had to get used to. To commit to and really stick to it. For some it was great, but we did find out that you really have to do your research.
The bottom line is that most listeners felt the parents needed to talk to their daughter. To talk to those that they trust who have gone through the experience. And then go through the process of talking to doctors who can tell you as well of the pros and cons.
The other question that came up was age. Was the daughter too young to get the procedure done? At what point to you feel that you are prepared for something like this? This was one of the big dilemmas throughout the entire topic. But being honest, talking and getting all the facts was the best advice. Listen to the segment and see what you think.
