Blaine Parker is his name. Blaine was digging up clams along the Florida coast when he came across one of the largest mollusks he's ever seen.

Parker was collecting clams to make homemade clam chowder. When preparing the clams, he realized the one giant clam was different and was in a way more special than the others.

A typical clam or ocean quahogs measure about three to four inches in length and can weigh about half a pound. That one specific clam measured almost double the normal size and was about five times the weight.

Instead of shucking it to cook it, he started to examine the large mollusk more, he realized it was likely born in 1809. How did Parker figure this out? He noticed the shells thickness. It's like counting the rings of a tree.

Blaine donated it to the Gulf Specimen Marine Lab where he actually works!

Because of the significance of the year he thinks it was born, he rightfully called it Abra-clam Lincoln, because it was the same year Abraham Lincoln was born. After examining it, the clam was returned to the ocean to live a longer life!
