We always say there is a record for everything…well guess what, there is! According to the Guinness Book of World Records, an Arizona dog has set the record for the longest tongue for a dog! You heard right and The Mike & Carla Morning Show shared comments from his owners this morning.
The dog’s name is Bisbee and he can now brag that he has the longest tongue for a dog. The amazing thing is how they actually measured the tongue. You have to admit that was genius. It’s pretty tough to measure the dog’s tongue while he’s awake, let’s wait until he’s under the gas and do it! Keep in mind that the dog was having surgery at the time…so good idea!
Jay and Erika Johnson are the proud owner of Bisbee and very proud to have the record in the books! Measuring 3.74 inches in length, you would think there has to be another dog that could challenge right? The record did belong to a Michigan boxer named Brandy who’s tongue measured 17 inches long before her death in 2002.
Now when you talk about longest tongues, the Blue Whale comes to mind. Known to sport a tongue as long as 18 feet and weighing 8000 pounds! On land, the anteater has a tongue that measures only about 2 feet, but can flick it’s tongue about 150 times per minute is which is pretty impressive.
When it comes to humans, setting the record is a guy by the name of Nick Stoeberl from Salinas, California. He sports a tongue at 3.97 inches. Nick says there’s not a lot of downsides to the length! On the flipside, Chantel Tapper from Michigan holds the record for women with her tongue length at 3.8 inches!
You would have to think that Gene Simmons of KISS is envious of both Nick and Channtel! However, at one time, Simmons actually insured his appendage for $1 million dollars!
