A couple in North Carolina had their wedding night spoiled a little after getting stuck in an elevator after their reception! Panav and Victoria Jha were stuck in the elevator at the Grand Bohemian Hotel, located in Charlotte.
Their after party was located on the 16th floor. When they got in the elevator to head up, the elevator got stuck. Victoria said, “I was freaking out. I’m not going to lie. It’s only like you hear this in movies.”
The Charlotte firefighters were four stories up trying to rescue them! The couple was stuck in the elevator for two hours. Panav said, “We’ve got up maybe five feet and then boom, doors kind of stuck.” “The door started to open and so I could see the concrete wall right in front of me, and I could see the concrete wall behind me. I was like, that’s not normal.”
Fire crews had to rappel down to save the newly wedded couple along with four of their wedding guests who were also in the elevator with them.
If you’re wondering if the couple made it to their after party, they didn’t. Panav said, “We did not.” “The bar closed. We had great friends who were hosting for us. So they took care of everyone.”
The Jhas are both doctors and plan to do their honeymoon in may. The hotel said both the Grand Bohemian and fire department went above and beyond for the guests involved.
