It's hard to believe, but teens need to be doing this more! Mom and Dad, you need to get your teenagers back on the phone talking again! That's what came up this morning on The Mike & Carla Morning Show when talking about how teenagers just don't talk anymore.

We know as kids, the telephone was the life line to our social life at school and in the circle of friends we hung out with. Even after hanging out with your friends all day, what was the first thing you would do when you got home? You would call them and talk for hours!

According to a recent article put out by CNN/Health, there are some important reasons as to why teenagers need to starting "talking" on the phone! In fact the article states, "...Despite, how “connected” we are and how easy it might be to communicate, mental ill-health, including anxiety and depression, is on the increase among young adults. They were also one of the groups who felt most lonely as a result of the pandemic."

We all know that by texting we give our responses on our own time instead of a physical phone call. This of course is much more attractive to a lot of people other than just picking up the phone. To actually hear the other person's voice, the tone, then inflection, all things we lose when just texting.

You also bond over the phone during a real conversation, build a trust factor. All this is in the article mentioned above that might be useful when talking to your teenagers. So when in doubt, sometimes it might be a lot better to just pick up the phone, dial, and here the voice of another person on the other end.

Listen to the segment and find out what some parents said and enjoy!
