Mirage Re-Branding Continues Without Dolphins
Three dolphins that have been frolicking in the water at Siegfried and Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at The Mirage Resort & Casino are being relocated to SeaWorld in San Diego, California.
According to an article written by Elaine Emerson on Fox5Vegas.com, Karli, Sofi and Osborne, have officially been returned to the famous animal theme park and oceanarium in Southern California. Those three dolphins were originally loaned to the Dolphin Habitat at The Mirage by SeaWorld San Diego. There are still three dolphins residing at the Las Vegas Strip location.
Per Emerson’s article, Mirage President Joe Lupo released a written statement concerning the relocation:
“The care of the dolphins at The Mirage has always been the highest priority for both Hard Rock and MGM. We are returning the dolphins to SeaWorld in San Diego in accordance with Mirage’s contractual commitment to do so when SeaWorld originally loaned these dolphins to The Mirage Dolphin Habitat. We are grateful for their partnership and know they will be in great hands back with SeaWorld.”
As you may know by now, Hard Rock International purchased The Mirage Resort and Casino from MGM in December 2022. Siegfried and Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat was closed shortly after Hard Rock took over the property. They are in the process of rebranding the Las Vegas Strip mega-resort as Hard Rock Las Vegas. The garden and habitat will not be a part of the rebranding.
The Mirage originally opened on November 22, 1989. It was one of the first mega-resorts on The Strip, and according to Wikipedia, its success led to a building boom in Las Vegas during the 1990’s. It was one of the first casinos my wife and I visited when we first moved here in 1994.
The new Hard Rock Las Vegas is expected to open sometime in 2025 or 2026.

Las Vegans don’t like traveling far from their homes if they don’t have to. And if it’s summer time don’t even bother to ask them to step away from the fan.
The Vegas strip is inundated with tourists, parking fees and high dining prices. Freemont isn’t as bad if you can adjust to the smell of BO, limited parking and unsettling beings that walk the streets. But what about the rest of Vegas? Well there is more to the city for those of us who may not know. Vegas encompasses more than just partying till 5 a.m., gambling and pretty showgirls.

The iconic spot features the outdoor showcase Neon Boneyard which houses around 250 unrestored signs and a few restored signs that are lit up on a moving forward trail.
The museum stores these signs as a way to conduct research, educate the public and to maintain Vegas history in present times.
The space is available for weddings, photo shoots and more. Appointments are required. The museum hosts theme nights and tickets tend to sell out. Purchasing in advanced is not required but recommended.
