Clark County Approves 10-Year Contract With Formula 1
The Clark County Commission unanimously approved a resolution on Tuesday (February 7) to partner up with Formula 1 to host the Gran Prix race here in Las Vegas through 2032.
The Las Vegas Gran Prix is currently scheduled for November 18, 2023. According to an article written by Brian Will and posted on 8NewsNow.com, Project Manager Terry Miller says construction plans for Formula 1’s new headquarters, and the race track, are on schedule.
Will’s article quotes Miller as saying: “It’s a thousand feet long so larger than three football fields and one hundred feet wide so twice a football field. It’s pretty significant in terms of size and configuration of this building on that site.”
Per the 8NewsNow.com website post, there will be 17 turns on the Gran Prix track, and racers will reach speeds of 212 miles per hour during the contest. Part of the race track will travel right down the famous Las Vegas Strip on Las Vegas Boulevard South.
Formula 1 Racing and Clark County originally signed an agreement to host the Las Vegas Gran Prix for three years; from 2023 through 2025. When they signed that initial agreement, both parties were hoping for a long-term partnership to keep that race here in the Las Vegas valley. And now, with the recent unanimous approval by the Clark County Commission, both parties are happy to see this partnership continue for ten years.
As you might expect, a world-class event such as this Formula 1 race will attract many visitors to Las Vegas. Will’s article hints at the fact that the Gran Prix could bring in excess of one billion dollars into our city, and it could create thousands of jobs as well.
