The There Is No Hero In Heroin Foundation (TINHIH) is a nonprofit organization in Las Vegas. It is dedicated to ending the devastation addiction causes families. Joe Engle founded the organization after he lost his son to a heroin overdose.
History
Engle wanted to help other parents who lost children to addiction. In 2013, they got together and hosted a community yard sale. They donated the profits to a sober living facility. That’s where TINHIH was born. That community yard sale was considered the first Black Monday (tinhihlasvegas.info).
Now Black Monday is the largest substance use awareness event in the state of Nevada. Held in February, the event consists of a resource fair and memorial display. It also offers harm reduction and overdose prevention trainings. And finally it hosts an awards program with keynote speakers.
Black Monday 2023
This year’s Black Monday will be on February 13. The keynote speaker is best selling author, tv/movie personality and former professional skateboarder, Brandon Novak. The event is free to anyone who wishes to attend.
There is something for every person to gain at Black Monday. Whether they are in currently an addict or in recovery. Or if they’ve lost a loved one to addiction, or affected in some other way. There’s something for everyone. And TINHIH encourages all who are interested to attend.
