Coming from Hawaii, I can say this is something that happens way more often than people think. In Hawaii, you have mountains and ocean shores. Unless you're living in the center of the island, you're somewhat safe. You live up against a mountain or hillside, you're prone to disasters like boulders coming down the hills. If you live near the ocean, you're prone to disasters like tsunami's or high tides washing up to your home.
This past Saturday, a woman was walking to her living room, in her home, in Hawaii, when all of a sudden a boulder came crashing through her home. Taking out walls and eventually stopping in her bedroom.
The boulder almost hit the woman by inches! The boulder was about five feet in height!
The entire thing was caught on her security camera!
The boulder did hit a vehicle but luckily in what could have been a very dangerous or possibly deadly incident, no one was hurt. Sadly the last time this happened in Hawaii, the same outcome was not the case.
