An origin story on Grease’s “Pink Ladies?”  I have to admit, even I was a little skeptical when I saw that this was being made – but the trailer looks surprisingly good!

The “Grease” prequel series “Rise of the Pink Ladies” hits Paramount  plus on April 6. Ahhh, yes, just in time to binge watch during those summer nights.

“Rise of the Pink Ladies” tells the origin story of the Pink Ladies. It’s set in 1954 (four years before the original film) and chronicles how the original members of the group came to “rule the school” (Rydell High).

Marisa Davila, Cheyenne Isabel Wells, Ari Notartomaso, and Tricia Fukuhara play the four founding Pink Ladies, while Shanel Bailey, Madison Thompson, Johnathan Nieves, Jason Schmidt, and Maxwell Whittington-Cooper play their various love interests and rivals. Jackie Hoffman stars as Assistant Principal McGee, a role played in the original film by Eve Arden.

“Rise of the Pink Ladies” is the first extension of “Grease” since 1982’s “Grease 2,” which featured an almost completely new cast, and received horrible reviews at the time – although now it has a pretty devoted fanbase. “Grease 2” helped launch Michelle Pfeiffer to stardom through her performance of “Cool Rider.”

“Grease”-themed television programs include the critically acclaimed 2016 “Grease: Live!” production on Fox, there was also a 2007 NBC reality series “Grease: You’re the One That I Want!” where contestants competed for the roles of Danny and Sandy in a Broadway revival of the stage musical.

And “Grease” isn’t going away after “Rise of the Pink Ladies.” Paramount Pictures is developing another prequel to the original film – “Summer Lovin’.”  It focuses on the summer Danny and Sandy spent together before the events of the original movie. So we’ll FINALLY know what REALLY happened – did the make out on under the dock? Did they stay out till ten o’clock?

If you are still hopelessly devoted to “Grease,” and brusha, brusha, brusha regularly, watch the cool trailer for “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies”
