If you watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade last week and saw Mariah Carey‘s performance, you may have noticed she was a little fake. We all know that all performances are lip synced for television, but majority of the artists know the lyrics to their song. Maybe Mariah Carey didn’t remember hers?
A viral video shows a huge teleprompter scrolling the lyrics to the song, right in front of her. She can be seen looking at it from the broadcast, but you won’t see the teleprompter. But on the viral video, you know when she’s looking that way, she’s looking at it. And she wanted to call herself the “Queen of Christmas”?
Before we all actually attack her, there is a reason for the huge teleprompter apparently. After the video was posted, lots of fans came to her aid to back up why it’s actually there. On person commented, “TV production employee here, the entire broadcast has these running in the script. For her, it’s probably a failsafe in case her in-ear fails.” Another person commented, “It’s called a confidence monitor. Many singers and performers use them. We use them at the church I work for.”
It’s pretty safe to say that Mariah still knows the lyrics to her holiday hit. I mean it is literally the only thing constantly bringing in money for her every year. But who knows, maybe she did forget. Either way, the teleprompter makes it look suspicious. What do you think?
