The mysterious McGold Card. I've heard of it, but never thought it was real! For years it was a rumor that McDonalds gives a select few free McDonald’s for life. Well - it's REAL, and it's returning!

McDonald's - whose stock is at an all time high, by the way - announced it is bringing back its famous McGold Card for the first time since 2018, meaning someone will win free food from the fast food giant for life.

The company announced one person, and three friends, will be lucky enough to win the prize as part of its "SZN of Sharing" campaign, which will allow people to score deals and merchandise drops through the McDonald's app.

Beginning December 5, every order made in the McDonald’s app for at least $1 will enter you into a contest to win a McGold Card. Three winners will get a special card that gets them free McDonald’s for life. Plus, each winner will get three extra cards to give away for a total of 12 cards being won.

The McGold Card has actually been around for years, with some pretty heavy hitters holding them, including Warren Buffett, Bill Gates and actor Rob Lowe. In 2018, McDonald’s issued a few gold cards during a contest. The winner was eligible to get “only” two free meals a week for 50 years. That rule applies to this year’s promotion too, which ends on December 25.

Mobile Order & Pay on the McDonald’s App is available in nearly 14,000 restaurants in the U.S. It is just one of the ways McDonald’s is using technology and innovation to transform their customers’ experience, with more than 100,000 transactions completed via Mobile Order & Pay daily.
