Yellowstone fans, here it is: The official trailer for 1923 - another chapter in the Dutton family's story.  Admittedly, I'm not the super fan that everyone else seems to be. But the show - shows - is/are huge!

1923 follows another generation of Duttons. The spin-off is "set during the early twentieth century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition and the Great Depression all plague the mountain west, and the Duttons who call it home,"  according to a plot synopsis from Paramount+. The backshift in the timeline is designed to allow the 1923 to show the fallout from World War I, and the early era of the Great Depression.

The trailer also shows Timothy Dalton as Donald Whitfield, a wealthy new neighbor who introduces himself to Cara. "Well, this is the Yellowstone and you have no rights here," she tells him while loading her shotgun.

The cast is stacked: Ford and Mirren, of course, along with James Badge Dale, who will play John Dutton Sr. (the character appeared as a child on 1883). Marley Shelton, playing his wife, Emma Dutton, Darren Mann as Jack Dutton, their son, and Brandon Sklenar, who will play Spencer Dutton, John's brother.

Michelle Randolph, Brian Geraghty, Aminah Nieves, Sebastian Roche, Robert Patrick, and Julia Schlaepfer are also part of the cast. Joining them will be Jerome Flynn, perhaps best know to fans as Bronn from Game of Thrones, who will reportedly play a Scottish shepherd and local leader who's expected to be an antagonist in the series.

1923 follows last year's 1883, the Yellowstone prequel that starred real-life couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill as James and Margaret Dutton, and followed their story as they traveled to Montana.

1923 premieres Dec. 18 on Paramount+ and the Paramount Network in a special simulcast event.
